Who is this dog for?

 This Pembroke is primarily for me, Em Scheinman. My partner, Kellan, is an avid dog lover and will assist with its caretaking.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I am searching for a family dog who will enjoy spending time with us inside and being the center of attention, but I also am hoping for a dog that is high energy and can go out on adventures with us. I love that corgis can fulfill both of those needs, and I think that they are a great combination of high-energy and affection. I also enjoy dog training and am searching for an intelligent breed that can learn with me. I have dog-sat for corgis before, as has my partner, and we've both greatly enjoyed their big personalities. We have done quite a bit of research on the breed.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Long hikes, running, trail running and walks around the neighborhood/park. We currently run for about 4 hours/week and are increasing it as we train for an ultramarathon. We'd love to take a dog along for some of our training runs as appropriate for the dog's age and ability level. One of the reasons we are looking for a corgi is that we know they are quite active.

For example, if the Pembroke was chewing on furniture, I'd say "no" and provide it with an appropriate toy to play with. Then I'd positively reinforce that they were chewing on the toy and not the furniture.

 I have had success with redirection, firm "no"s but no yelling, brief timeouts in another room, and positive reinforcement of good behavior. I think effective discipline will vary greatly upon the breed, but I would never yell, use physical force, or leave my dog outside as punishment.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Of course, they are adorable, but I also think they are a good size for city living. I enjoy dog training so I like that corgis are smart and curious. In my past job as a dog walker I had several regular corgi customers and I developed a lovely relationship with them.

 We live in a wonderfully dog-friendly neighborhood with many dog parks and even a dog beach that we plan to take the corgi to. We would also like to bring him with us on camping and hiking trips when appropriate.

Such as if the dog was chewing I would tell him no, remove the item, have him sit, and once his attention focused I give him a chew toy.

 The dog would be for the family as a therapy and farm dog. So it mush get alone with people and animals.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 With our past adoptions of Corgis, we thoroughly enjoyed how they interacted with our animals and family members. We are semi-retired and expect to volunteer exceedingly more. Our daughter works in a memory care senior home in the activity department. She feels the residence certainly could use the company of a therapy dog. There past therapy dog is deceased. Corgi's are smaller but have a large dog mentality. We are a family of misfits and only have abandoned or shelter animals.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We are a farm family. Chores morning and night. However, we have special therapeutic beds for our dogs, that spend there time in the house with the family. We would also be traveling with the dog. So, it will need to be able to ride in a car. I am a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Our past rescue Corgi's were some of the best babysitters to the farm animals. Our family is active and everyone participates. That includes our dogs.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Frankie was my best friend, he was always by my side. Frankie had been disabled since 4 years of age. We took Frankie to Purdue University multiple times and seen specialist to see if anything could be done, but all they could reccomend was a wheelchair. I fell in love with this breed.

 The Pembroke will be for us.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 -We have a Pembroke now. Maxine is our first Corgi and we have fallen in love with everything about the breed, including the shedding. Maxine has been the joy of our lives. Being first time corgi owners, we read everything we could about Corgis. They are just so lovable. It took us a little while to realize she was herding us at times. Which was quite funny.

 walks, bike rides- yes we have a dog carrier. Our Maxine loves it. boating, with life jacket. play ball, cuddle – lots of cuddling. Dog parks, hikes. chilling.
