Who is this dog for?

 Our daughter has wanted a Corgi for 3 years. She has anxiety issues and we feel this would help her with this issue.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Have done a lot of research on this breed and love the look of them and their personalities. My daughters friend just bought a corgi puppy and she is just beautiful and I love her spunk. We are very active so the puppy would get lots of exercise and she would go everywhere with us. We love dogs like they are our kids. She would get an abundance of care and attention.

Who is this dog for?

 This Pembroke is for our family. Our previous Pembroke passed last week after a long battle with DM and Kidney Cancer.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We have previously adopted two Pembrokes. the first died of old age 10 years ago His age was unknown, but, it was estimated to be at least 14. Our second passed recently at the age of 13 from cancer. He also had Degenerative Myelopathy for which we used both a wheel chair and a sling to carry his hind side. We love the personality, loyalty and outgoing friendliness of the breed. Their smile melts our heart.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We have a fenced in back yard so we would like to play fetch and run around with him/her. We also walk several times per week and would take him for walks in the neighborhood or local park. Likewise, it's always nice to just have a lap dog to pet while we rest in the living room, etc.

Who is this dog for?

 The Pembroke would be for me. I am a 58 year old female widow. I live by myself but have 2 cats. One senior cat (18) and one young cat, (almost 2)
One year ago my beloved dog, Moses who was 15 years old passed away.
I have a large home with a fences in backyard. I also live in a beautiful neighborhood with sidewalks for long walks.
I work at home and will be retiring in 2 years.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I took in a (likely) corgi/sheltie mix from a friend's family when they were no longer able to keep her and had her until 2011, when she passed away at 17. After she passed, I wanted to adopt again and was lucky enough to find a purebred corgi at a rescue shelter in Illinois. I had my sweet little Minnie until just about a month ago when she passed away. I love the corgi smile and how they love being with their people. My mom called her my "partner in crime."

Who is this dog for?

 This Pembroke would be joining our family (my husband, our lab/border collie mix, any myself)!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Yes, we've done research on Pembroke Welsh Corgis and feel that their activity level and temperament would be a perfect fit in our family. We love going on hikes, taking trips to the dog beach, and playing "brain games" (like hiding treats and toys) with our dog Wrigley and think these activities would be loved by a Pembroke as well! Our experience with Pembrokes has primarily been interactions at the dog park and watching them team up with our dog to herd other dogs at the park.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 As said above, we love going to the dog beach, going on hikes, taking long walks through the neighborhood, playing fetch in our fenced in yard, and creating mini obstacle courses or puzzles when the weather keeps us inside.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		It would depend on the mistake but in general I would say try to immediately correct the behavior. So if the mistake was jumping on someone, I would ask the dog to sit and reward the good behavior.

Discipline:
 We would use positive reinforcement to increase the behaviors we want to see and hopefully decrease the need discipline. Thing still happen so we would also practice commands like "leave it," or "drop it" so in the event it ever picked up something dangerous or harmful we could keep the dog safe.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 The Pembroke would spend most of it's time with our family; either playing at home or going where we go.

Our dog Wrigley likes to patrol the house while we're asleep so he makes use of multiple spots; the corgi would be able to too if it wanted.

Play & exercise:
 Our current play/exercise routine (which would be increased if our addition has more energy!) is running around and playing chase in the yard in the morning, a midday or post work walk for at least an hour, fetch/keep away/other toy based games throughout the rest of the day, and a few more runs outside. We get creative! After the storm last week my husband built a maze in the snow for Wrigley!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 They are very cute of course. We have done research on temperment and ability to be family pet, exercise needs, and common health concerns. We do not have experiences with this breed.

 My current old dog doesn't like to play with toys but we would be able to provide fetch and tug toys for small dogs. We have a large back yard that ends at a creek with trails. We would go on walks with dog. We have a pool. If a new pet seems to be water friendly inclined we'd play in the shallow end with dog and/or float with depending on dog interest and trust level. We have a smaller fenced in area to allow dog run and bathroom breaks. We'd attempt to teach and/or reward tricks. And last but not least snuggle and love the new pet

 Abe is home during the day and has just started a part-time job on Midnights. I work during the day and am home at night. Roman, my other son is currently in Hybrid school – part online and part face to face during the day.

 We have an open feed currently with my old dog and cat. It hasn't been a problem. This can be adjusted if needed to accommodate the new pet. And/or he can have his meals provided downstairs. My older pets do not go down the steps and the basement with Abe could be his domain.

Where would dog sleep:
 My pets sleep with me. We also have dog beds in almost every room for Mr Whiskers and new dog to rest in depending on which room we're in. I have a dog bed in the dining room and in my office as I can't have dog in my lap at that time. And as my dog has gotten older, he doesn't always like to be lifted up to the couch or my bed and he goes to the dog beds in my room/closet and/or living room depending on where I am at in the house

Play & exercise:
 Well, as a new and exciting pet the new corgi would be showered with attention as we explore what type of play they enjoy. We all have Fitbits and try to get 10,000 steps daily so if little corgi can keep up they can walk with us. Otherwise, in warm weather I like to walk back to the creek and back daily. We would play tug and fetch. We'd take the dog to dog park. Lots of options.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have researched the breed in the ASPCA Complete Guide to Dogs by Sheldon L. Gerstenfeld, V.M.D According to the author, the dogs are bright and easy to train. They that do have some health issues that need to be checked, but the breed seems to have no negative traits and are wonderful, medium sized dogs.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I would love to take my dog on walks, pet him or her and brush and groom them. A dog that wants to go on short car rides with me and sleep on an L.L. Bean bed in various parts of my house: the kitchen, the living room, my bedroom, the porch and my Gazebo would be great. Yes, I do have several beds all over the house.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		Depending what the mistake was, I would clean it up and take the dog outside. I would also try to take some stool or urine outside for the dog to smell.
If it was a chewing error, I would take the offending object away and substitute a toy to chew on.

 I never hit an animal; I use preventative measures and plenty of love and attention. I do raise my voice somewhat for a "no" in a stern voice .
I never have had the problem of barking, but I would look it up in my dog book.

 We’ve loved the energy, happiness, & pure joy whenever we’ve been around a corgi. It’s been a dream of mine to have one for a while, & we’d love to adopt if possible.

Who is this dog for?

 ME!
I am looking for a dog with a personality that might make it a good therapy dog. Within the last year and a half I lost two wonderful collies due to different cancers. I miss their companionship and taking them for walks. I do have a fenced in back yard and friends that bring their young dogs over to romp and have fun. I can provide a vet and groomer reference.
Getting along with other dogs is a must. I also have grandchildren who have loved playing with and walking my dogs in the past. They are 6 and 10.
I will be retiring in June, but have plenty of energy to take on an active dog. I'd prefer a younger dog , but would consider an adult that's lived in a home and likes to ride in the car.
Currently, one of my adult sons lives with me, but the dog will be mine and I will be training and working with him/her.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Years ago I researched the breed when we were trying to decide on a new family pet. At that time, I chose collies because I knew they'd be easier to train. Now that I'll be retiring, I'm up for a more energetic pup and feel I've trained enough dogs that I can handle a corgis successfully.
I love a corgi's sweet face and the way they move. In corgis I've seen around town and at the dog park, I like their sass and spunk. This is a good size for me as carrying a large dog is getting to be too much.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 First, this pup will be my buddy. I'm a widow and need a pal to dote on as my children are grown and I don't have my grandchildren here all the time. I had trained one of my collies to be a canine good citizen and therapy dog. It was a lot of work, but fun, and she was a favorite in our neighborhood. I'd also done some agility with her, but she wasn't into it as much as I was. These are activities I'd like to try with a corgi and think the right dog could be well suited to them.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		If probably depends on the mistake, but I tend to use a loud Uh, uh noise for mouthing, accidents, etc. and then try to show the pup what I want by using distraction. For example, if a pup is mouthing, I would say "uh, uh" and then give them a chewy toy. If there's an accident, I would say the same and take them outside.
