Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Since a child I've always loved Corgi's and got my first one 7 years ago. He was everything I ever dreamed off in a corgi. I love their personalities, their energy to be active but also cuddle on the couch on lazy Sunday's. They're so smart and in my experience work in almost in kind of household/family. And obviously because they're the most adorable dog breed! A little over 4 years ago, my ex fiance and I got a second corgi but unfortunately we split up. I fought to keep both but my ex kept Einstein (which devastated me) and I kept Maja (the 4 yr old female I have now). Now I'm looking to get another corgi companion for myself and Maja.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 My current corgi, Maja, is very active with us. She goes camping, hiking, lots of trips to the dog park, she even has a trailer to ride in during bike rides and she LOVES swimming!

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		I would immediately intervene if able. Ie. Poops on the floor. Tell them no and carry the poop outside with them and wait for them to poop outside. Then praise them for doing it correctly. If chewing on something, I'd take it away and say "no," then give them a tou or done that they can chew on.

Discipline:
 I say "no" and replace with a correction. Then praise them and provide treats when they do good behaviors. I've also used clickers and shakers to deter them from things I don't want them near or "destroying."

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 With me at home, but whenever I go somewhere like a friends or family's house (especially for extended periods of time) Maja almost always comes with me. If I ever have to go out of town and she can't come with, my parents always dog sit.

Discipline:

 We go for walks daily and go to the dog park on the weekends when the weather allows. When it'snot bad weather/winter, we do a lot of outdoor activities like camping, hiking or walking trails. We have a lot of toys to play with indoors as well when we can't go outside.

 For myself son and wife (misty).. have rescued 2 in my life to date, Kiera lived to 11, but passed last year, and Ms. Barker… It's been the best dogs I've ever owned.. would love to give another a home and have a little buddy to keep me company throughout the day.

 Kira was my couch potato.. went everywhere I did.. the loyalty of Corgi breed is amazing. Ms. Barker was like a super many to my son lol. No joke I swear she thought she was his mom, but was very loving to him.

 I snap my fingers, and keep eye contact for a few seconds.. the snap breaks their concentration, and the dog can feel the energy of a Stern good stare down.. most anything more is intimidating and not discipline.. if you want a life long friend never intimidate your dog.. direct them..

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We had a male Pembroke for 12 years named Myles. At the same time we had a female Beagle that was a few years younger. Both have now passed away and we would love to have another Corgi to take care of.
Corgis always seem to be happy and ready to go. We are both a few years from retirement and still active outdoors and in the neighborhood. We like to hike, bike, garden, and have family over. My wife is Irish and her English cousin had Corgis as they were growing up, so when we got married she decided it was time to get a Corgi! I love the commotion when someone comes to the door and everyone starts barking and looking out the windows!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Take him (her) for long walks, play tag in the yard, teach new tricks, snuggle on the couch, give tons of love. Myles, our corgi, was such a devoted dog. He was gentle and loving and had such a peaceful presence while also loving to play. We would love to share our home with another.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We adopted Roxie when she was 5. Her owners divorced and no longer had the time for her. She was quite the handful for a bit. But with patience, a lot of attention and time she settled in. At that time we had 3 herding dogs in the house. It could get pretty rowdy. But Roxie was always a fun, loving and entertaining family member. We love Corgi personalities, intelligence, loving personalities and who doesn't love the infamous Corgi butt.

 Take walks around the neighborhood, play ball or chase in the yard, or just lay on the couch and watch TV.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Have two friends with Pembroke and Caridgan Welsh Corgis. My long time auto mechanic has a Pembroke. I really like herding breeds and think this breed will fit into my family. I have talked to Corgi families and read a lot. Know most of their potential medical problems, about being vocal and shedding a lot.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Right now, I am not sure. I usually take a new dog to obedience classes and I would like to do agility. My young dog likes barn trials but not sure this breed would enjoy as much. In normal times we go to dog friendly events, most of surrounding farmer markets, festivals, road trips, etc. Hopefully, things will open up and we can start doing this again and find the right activity match for this boy or girl. Meanwhile, we are doing a lot of walking (near a monastery that has 20 some miles of walking trails. Lots of tennis ball fetching

 I've had experience with other friends' corgis and I absolutely love their demeanors and their size is perfect for our family. I love how smart they are and how loyal and outgoing they are too.

 We do hikes and walks with our dog a lot and we have playtime almost all evening/night after work until bedtime. We can also be couch potatoes and just lounge around so we can adapt to any personality.

Who is this dog for?

 For me 🙂 Here's a little about myself. Since the pandemic, I work from home. Prior to that, I worked typical office hours. I've thought about adopting a Corgi for over a year and now actively looking to rescue one. My house has a fenced front and back yard for him/her to play. I have not had a dog for about 10 years, but I often watch my dog nephew, Sy, and my friend's dogs, Zeus and Ninja. I would be happy to pass along their information for referral purposes. I look forward to working with your organization and finding a match.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I've researched a few breeds and after my research, Corgis temperament and personality match what I want in my dog. They're happy, smart, playful, and loyal dogs. I also prefer breeds in the herding category, and Corgis size and weight are also a great fit for city living. Also, corgis are friendly, which fits into my lifestyle of entertaining.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I would take my dog on walks, hikes, and play fetch and "tug-of-war". Depending on the level of obedience training, I would also take my dog to training lessons and possibly agility classes.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		It would depend on the mistake. Being in a new environment is an adjustment, so I would have a lot of patience. If my dog had an accident, I would immediately walk my dog over and say no. And if it continued, I would think about adding more walks to our routine. If it got into some mischief, I would take a look to see how I can prevent my dog from getting into more mischief.

 Most of his time would be spent at home with me, since I am working from home. Socializing my dog is important, so I plan on doggy care once or twice a week.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I first saw a corgi in my early teen years when I accompanied a friend to her horse show. I had never seen one before and from that moment I was hooked. Not only was it quite possibly the cutest thing I had ever seen it also had the perfect amount of spunk and cuddliness. When I think about dog breeds I like to imagine the opening scene from 101 Dalmatians when each dog matches their owner’s appearance/style. Thinking about myself I honestly think about a corgi. I like to keep busy, be social and even enjoy a good bask in the sun.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I’d love to have a daily walking partner. All of my friends have dogs so it’d be great to have a pup that can interact with other dogs. I’d even be allowed to bring them to work with me! I’d also enjoy some company around the house for lazy days and cuddles. In the summer I enjoy camping so it would be great to have a companion for that too!

If I would see the mistake (example they are chewing on my shoes) I would correct the action with redirection. Replacing the shoes with something that is appropriate to chew on.

 My corgi would have a food/water set up in my kitchen or living area. Both would supply ample space. I've also heard a lot of good things about snuff mats for active pups and if they enjoyed that they could virtual eat anywhere.

 I would like for them to sleep with me. But again if they would prefer to roam the house or be created that would be an option as well.

Play & exercise:
 I'm looking for a daily walking buddy! Fresh air is a must for me. I also have a fenced in back yard that would be good for games of fetch and a open concept basement for those really cold Wisconsin days. As also noted most of my friends have pups and we are all very dog oriented. It would be great to have a pup that would love to play and socialize with my doggy pals!

The fence is chain link on one side (with two entrance doors) and the other side is a taller plastic fence. Updating the chain link fence to match the plastic side is on my future project list however.
