Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have never owned a Pembroke welsh corgi but have always thought they were beautiful dogs. I do have a good friend who has a Pembroke and she has been a wonderful pet. I've done some reading on the breed but not a lot of research.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 My husband and I both like to walk. We are snowbirds and travel to FL in the winter so we can walk all year long. Many people in our housing development have dogs so we are always meeting new friends. Its a very dog friendly community.

 We have done many researches about Corgi and we are ready to adopt and take care of a Corgi on our own. He/She will make a great friend for us.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have done many researches on Pembroke Welsh Corgi as well as heard their owners shared many pros and cons to have one. As a college student, I am looking for a breed that is playful, actively outgoing and friendly, which I find Corgi to be the best fit for me. I am not really a human-person (introvert) so to have a dog friend will make my life a lot more colorful. In addition, I also think a lot about the responsibilities if I have a dog to be sure that I can give them the best life that I possibly can and after many days to consider, I think I am ready to take this responsibilities.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I will go out for walks a lot with my Corgi. I have 2 Dog Parks near my houses and I think it will be great for him/her to be there as well. I also want to take her/him to the meeting with other Corgi (I have joined the Illinois Corgi Group on Facebook and they do host the meeting to let the dogs meet each other and it was super fun!). I will take him/her everywhere and really treat him/her as my bestfriend.

 I will ignore him/her and pretend that I am really mad. Because Corgi really needs attention so I think by doing this way, he/she can know that I don't like what he/she doing.

 I'll try to balance taking my Corgi out and as well as staying at home. However, when staying, I will make him/her busy as well with toys like the owner of Gasby Corgi on Youtube does when he leaves for work.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have always thought that corgis were absolutely adorable though I have never owned one. I have grown up with labs and golden retrievers, which I love but do not currently have the space for, so I am looking for a dog that is smaller but just as smart, playful, and affectionate. I have done research on the breed and understand that they are herding animals, so it will be important to train them and make sure they get enough exercise so that herding energy is no redirected into misbehavior.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Living in a house full of responsible almost college graduates doing school from home, I want to spend lots of time cuddling and playing with my Pembroke and also taking him/her for lots of walks around Ann Arbor. After graduation I will be headed back to Baltimore, MD, where my parents live for a little while, so a dog that does well in the car would be great!

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		Dogs can rarely be trained not to make a mistake if not caught in the act; thus I think that if the dog makes a mistake you cannot discipline the dog long after something has happened. It is important to let those things go and realize that if the dog has done something you do not want it to do, it is the responsibility of the owner to keep an eye on the dog to make sure this does not happen, and it is not the dog's fault.

Discipline:
 I just helped trained a golden retriever puppy with my parents and have seen that it is important to make sure the dog knows who is in charge (aka, not the dog). When dogs do something bad, you should respond with a very firm no and redirect to a better activity. We trained our golden with small training treats to help her on commands and leash training. Praise and reward are key for good things that the dog does, so that it becomes clear what not to do. It is also important not to use certain punishments with the dog, such as putting them in the crate for doing something bad (as this would cause them to not like the crate), and I do not believe in physical punishment at all on animals.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 The Pembroke will spend most of their time in the house with me. I am currently living in Ann Arbor and would have this dog as an emotional support animal, so the dog would spend most of the time with me. Twice a week I go to my nursing clinical, in which the dog would be at home with my roommates who are willing to help with the dog. The dog would go in the crate when no one is home, which is not common given the circumstances of the pandemic.

 Our other dog was a Corgi. We lost him a couple of weeks ago to Degenerative Myelopathy. His size and temperament fit our lifestyle perfectly. We loved playing with him both inside and outside with his yellow tennis ball.

 We had on for 12 years and loved her so much. She was a great family dog. This was over 3 years ago and we are ready for another. The breed is smart and loving but can but strong willed.

 Once the dog is comfortable we us, I can take her to work on some days. Also my husband is home by 130pm every day from work. I leave by 830-9am each day

 A corgi seems like a good fit for our family because of its size and its temperament. We have two cats, so we are looking for a medium-sized dog or smaller. Every corgi we have interacted with in the past has been very friendly and warm.
