Who is this dog for?

My family and myself! We currently have an 8 year old Tri-colored female Pembroke and would love to find a companion to her :)!!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I would love to adopt a Pembroke Welsh corgi because I would love to find a companion for our 8 year old Corgi. I just love their personalities and love for life. They are amazing family dogs. Super loyal, trusting and so much fun. My experience has been great with our Corgi…I honestly don't know how I could ever another breed <3! Lots of research yes. Very familiar with how the breed is :)!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Go for walks (if the dog is able), play outside in the yard (we have fenced in backyard), my other Corgi loves to play fetch and play with lots of toys so if another one is into that they could surely join in. Most importantly give it lots of love and attention <3

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Calmly. I would take the time to show the dog what they did incorrectly and them help them learn what to do the next time to prevent the mistake from happening again.

Discipline:
Use a positive, stern voice and tell them no. When they do something right, praise them and give them rewards or treats to teach them what is the correct behavior.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
At home with my family and myself (Husband, Daughter Lola 5, Daughter Winnie 11 months). If the dog is friendly and able I would also be able to bring it to work with me on occasion. I am an Outpatient Therapy Coordinator at a Medical Care facility so I would love to be able to bring the dog to work with me to visit patients and residents as a therapy dog :)!

People at home during the day?
My husband and myself both work but we have weekends off all of the time. My husband works from 6-2:30pm and I work from 8-4:00 usually 4 days a week. So the longest they would be alone for is 6 hours at the most. My husband is able to go home and let the dog out during his lunch break at 11:30 on days where we both are working.

Where would dog eat?
In the kitchen where the dog food bowls are.

Where would dog sleep:
In our bedroom on a dog bed.

Play & exercise:
By taking them for a walk, for a rides in the car, taking them out in the yard to play etc… If they are able and anything like my other Corgi, they will get plenty of exercise chasing around my children who love to play!

Who is this dog for?

We have been wanting a corgi or a corgi mix for our family since moving to our house. We have a nice half acre yard and a lot of time and love to give

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I've been researching what kin of dog would fit in with our family and I've just really fallen in love with Corgis. They are really beautiful dogs. The temperament, life span, affection needs, size, and everything else really fits with what we are looking for in a dog.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We live on a very quiet street with no traffic. There is a great park across the street with a ton of walking trails that everyone takes there dogs along. We have a few dog park right near us as well that I would love to visit. Also since we live in Holland, MI, we are five minutes from a few Lake Michigan beaches. I would really enjoy taking my dog there.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Make a distraction in order to snap them out of the behavior, firmly say no, and then tell them to sit.

Discipline:
My number one technique with my kids or animals is positive reinforcement. I think praising them when they do well is a lot better for the soul than always punishing. Of course that doesn't mean that kids or dogs can take over the house hold so, in that case I would use correction of the behavior only if he/she is actively exhibiting it (after the fact is pointless)

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Since someone is home everyday, they would just spend time with the family

Myself

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I previously owned a purebred Pembroke corgi who was raised from 2 months old, who unfortunately died due to a sudden, undiagnosed illness. I love corgis because they are active, smart, yet very independent. The shedding and barking is not a problem to me, and i am willing to work on things such as herding mentalities, barking, stubbornness, etc.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Daily walks in the morning and evening, trips to the dog park for running and socialization every day that’s possible, training at home including puzzles, and agility training if the dog is responsive to it.

Who is this dog for?

This Pembroke Corgi would be for me. I am 33 and live alone with 2 cats. I'm looking for a Corgi that loves people and would be happy to join me for walks around downtown and hiking. I have a fenced in yard as well for the Corgi to run around and play in.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I haven't spent much time with a Corgi, but based on my research, I believe they would be the perfect pet for me. I am looking for a dog that is smaller in stature, active and likes to be social. I have several friends and family members with children, so I want a dog that is good with people. I admire the Corgi love-ability, loyalty and protective traits.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We would…
go for walks around the neighborhood/downtown
play with niece and nephew, and friends children
hiking (not long hikes)
run around the fenced-in yard and play with toys
cuddle-up on the couch and watch movies
teach the dog tricks to challenge its intellegence

Generally, I would calmly redirect and reward the dog when it behaves positively.

Depending on what is best for the animal, I am happy to work to crate train the Pembroke or allow it to roam the house while I am gone. On the weekends, I am mostly at home and would be spending plenty of quality time with the dog.

Who is this dog for?

My two daughters and myself.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
From the age of five until I was 18, my very best friend was our pwc Lady Samantha Duchess. She was a rescue: as a vet, my grandpa was asked to put a litter of puppies down that were attacked by a German Shepard. He spared my Sammy for me. She always tried to lift my mood and could even say she loved or missed me. She trained me as much as I tried to train her during my time with 4-H. I miss that love and comfort only a corgi seems to have. I have never encountered a breed I am more pleased, entertained, or comfortable with. I love the corgi personality, their loyalty to family, and the many hours of laughter from their character; from running rounds back and forth, to tipping backwards, and frapping in the snow, this breed has my heart. My heart hurts for many reasons, and I believe there is a corgi that needs me just the same out there.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Beyond my daughters playing with her/him, cuddling and tug of rope are of the up most importance with our Pembroke. We love spending time hiking and camping in good weather, bringing our pwc would be a must. If for some reason our corgi can't join, she/he can stay with Grandma and Bailey(pwc/heeler mix) until we return. Howling together is a must.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Persistent redirection, whether it's redirecting to potty outside, or to play with a more appropriate toy, patience and consistency are a must.

Discipline:
Verbal (a "stern" no) combined with redirecting him/her to proper behavior, which depend on circumstances.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In our home with us.

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
Half days during the week, and we are home all day on weekends.

Where would dog eat?
In the kitchen by our table, with us.

Where would dog sleep:
I would love to give her/him their own cozy bed, but I wouldn't be the least bit disappointed if she/he chose to sleep at my feet, by my side, or with my daughters.

Play & exercise:
Beyond me and my two kids playing soccer or randomly goofing around with her/him, we will take many walks on the cedar valley trail right out our front door. We will have playdates with two other families that have mixed corgi breeds a couple times a week. I plan to purchase good sturdy ropes and random toys she/he takes interest in on trips to the store. If she/he is older, play will be as much as they can keep up,

Are you willing to work on it if your new dog doesn’t get along with your current pets right away?
I have actually spent a lot of time helping friends and neighbors introduce their shy dogs to other pets to ease the process. I have a friend with a heeler (Dixie Dog) that has been used for this social training quite often. Dixie dog has one of the mixed corgi pups we will be playing with first and, over my pwc's time, often.

Who is this dog for?

He would be my new addition!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
This breed caught my eye because of the size and color. I did some research on the breed, but have never had the pleasure of owning my own! I know they are fairly active and it would be nice for my other dog to have a companion in life minus myself!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I take my dog on two walks minimum a day, along with going to the dog park, our lake house and hikes regularly! Fairly active!

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
I've always been into positive reprimanding, meaning I bring my dog to what he did wrong (chewing up a receipt for example), ask them what they did in a different, not happy, tone, and tell them no. I then tell him to go to his cage and he walks over and he gets put in "time out" for ten minutes. I've never hit or physically inflicted pain on my dog. I don't believe that works or harsh yelling. I want my animal to trust me, but know they messed up as well.

Discipline:
I change my tone and use a cage. My current dog uses his cage as a "safe place" so he immediately goes there when he knows he did something wrong.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
i have an apartment where he would have two bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, living room, dining room and kitchen for him to roam around!
