Who is this dog for?

My husband and me.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
Our first Corgi came to us through a breeder. We were looking for a small dog with a big personality. We investigated different breeds and attended the dog show to see them in person and talk to the breeders. At the time we we were a young family with 2 boys and we were looking for a dog that would love to be involved in our activities and was a friendly breed. And he was! Max went everywhere with us from sporting activities to family campi.ng. Our 2nd Corgi, Jake, came to us from a family that could no longer keep him. Our next adopted dog was a Corgi-mix., Hank. He, too, was a sweetheart who just wanted to be with his family. That is the trait that we love most about our corgis. Not only do they want to be involved, but they are happy to take charge, if you let them.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Now that our kids are grown, we are not as active as we once were. We still attend our grandkids baseball/soccer/football games at the park and I expect our Corgi will come with us. My husband walks not quite a mile a day and he would love to have company. I am outside in the yard gardening, weather permitting, and I could always use a companion who loves to chase balls and butterflies.

Vet contact info:

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
If he has gotten into a situation with another animal or person, then I would remove him from the area. If he has gotten into something, like a chewed shoe, then I would remove the shoe.

Discipline:
We have always found a "No" in a stern voice has been enough to correct an action and/or removing him was enough to correct a behavior. It may take a few times, our guys have always been headstrong, but it has been effective for us. Under no circumstances do we ever hit our dog.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
With us in the house.
