| Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions | |||||||
|
Who is this dog for? |
Gloria and Terry: Our three Corgi's who reached the ages of 12, 13, and 14 have died this year. We would like a younger dog or older puppy if possible. They would be house dogs and receive love and excellent care. |
||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
We have had Corgis for 14 years. Our three dogs were close in age so they have all died recently and we truly miss the interactions and companionship.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
We live on an acreage and near a state park so daily walks, three times a day in the summer. Run and play in our large front yard. Hang out on the sofa or in our three-seasons room. We appreciated that they barked when something was wrong, or someone came to the door. |

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
I use hand signals: for no: point finger at face Did something intentionally wrong: point at kennel (show them to go in at first) I use the same key words and they learn what they mean. "You're next" "Just a little bit" (they need to wait a few minutes but no longer) "Do you need to go outside?" and offer the leash |
||||||
Discipline: |
Take the dog outside frequently until they learn to stand by the front door to signal a need to go outside. Quickly move the dog to outdoors if it is an accident, or quickly remove the item that was chewed and watch more carefully. |
||||||
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
Indoors, but outside if they stand by the door and want to go outside.
