Who is this dog for?

Our family. We have one other rescue dog, a Shitzhu named Bella. We have always had dogs. We lost our Bassethound to cancer a couple of years ago and have really missed having a second dog.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I have been familiar with the breed since my sister in law has had 3 of them. They have always been great family dogs. They can be head strong, but we have had hounds so we understand. I have done some research on the breed and nothing was a game changer. All dogs have personalities like people and some are just more bothersome than others. Our Shitzhu is adorable but she is yappy. All of our dogs have loved attention and we are happy to give it to them.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We are an active family. We like to run and walk and our dog walks with us. My husband ran with our Golden, but the Bassets and the Shitzhu have not been running dogs.

We live on a river but as you know Shitzhu's cannot swim. Our dog is always in a life vest whenever she is outside on the river side of the house and always when on the boat. Our Bassethounds didn't swim either. We have always been very conscientious about our dogs whereabouts because they didn't swim.
