Who is this dog for?

The both of us

Why do you want a Pembroke?
Yes, we have done research on the breed. We love the fact that they are gorgeous and natural herders. We are both active; so an active dog would fit right in. I have had friends that have had corgis and they have always been friendly and good tempered.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Take him/her on walks, cuddle/affection, play with toys inside and in the backyard.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Stern voice “no” and show it the right way to do it. When doing it correctly, give the dog praise and a treat or whatever else is their motivator.

Discipline:
A stern “no” and not reinforcing that behavior. Showing them the correct behavior and reinforcing that.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In the home. We would ensure that the dog would have access to the backyard throughout the day and go on daily walks.

People at home during the day?
No, however, our neighbor works from joe. And is willing to to let the dog out. My mom works from home, as well, and is also able to assist when needed. Additionally, Andrew’s mom works part time and lives near by to assist.

Where would dog eat?
In a food bowl in the kitchen

Where would dog sleep:
In bed with us if they chose to. Otherwise we would have a dog bed on the floor.

Play & exercise:
We would allow them continuous access to the backyard and have ample toys to play with both inside and outside. We would walk the dog everyday. We would want to make sure the dog has many opportunities to play with the neighbor’s dog, if both dogs get along. If the corgi gets along well with other dogs, We would also like to bring the corgi to a doggie playhouse a couple times throughout the week, especially while we are at work.
