Who is this dog for? |
Myself | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
I have done research on the breed. I have always wanted a corgi and a dachshund. I have had my doxie for 7 years now and we are finally ready as a family for a second dog. I love the breed. I love them because they are herding dogs, smaller dogs and lovable. They get along with other animals and children in general and they have peach butts…
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
We go for walks outside often. We play with the kids in the yard and go for car rides for ice cream. I would also plan to keep this dog in social circles to make sure they are appropriately socialized.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
I think that positive reinforcement is appropriate. Punishing a dog not only does not help the situation but makes it harder for the dog to understand what we want. I would redirect the dog and give praise when he does something correct. Incorrect behavior should be dealt with by showing the dog you will ignore him and give no attention to bad behavior.
Discipline: |
Ignoring a dog and not showing attention when they are misbehaving. This may also be placing them in a "safe place" away from the family and any type of attention for a short period of time.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
At our home in Ypsilanti.

We have a wide open yard that backs up to a field and is away from the road. we are not allowed fences but may place dogs on leads or get an invisible fence.
