Who is this dog for?

The corgi would be for me mostly but my husband is a big fan as is my son (who is 35).

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We have owned 3 and just had to have our last one put to sleep in April 2018 as she had kidney failure at age 12. We had a single female in the 2000s and when she passed we got a pair of puppy sisters. One died 2 years ago and the other this past April.

We love corgis – my son has one also – we love their energy, their love and personalities. They are happy and fun loving and yet cuddle – we have loved them so very much –

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We live in the Northwoods with lots of property. We live on a beach and our other corgis liked to stand in the water to their bellies in the hot summer, but they really loved to place on the beach in the sand playing this crazy game they invented, one would act like a bull and scrape the sand, the other would down the beach and then make an unexpected run at the first one – they wouldn't hit but they'd roll around so cute to watch – I wish I had a video of it. We love to walk so the dog would get lots of exercise.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
At first just gently repeat the exercise or if it is like an accident in the house, clean it up, and take the dog outside. Then watch the dog back in the house and make sure it has many times to go outside and reward when the dog goes to the bathroom outside with a small treat and much verbal response.

Discipline:
Simple no or a 'tisk' verbal sound. Keep on leash until outside commands are obeyed.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
We usually have a crate so the dog can feel safe – our others corgis all slept in their crate with door open at night. We usually give them run of the house.
