Other preferences:	We have a 3.5 year-old and newly 1 year-old who love animals (they adore our cats, and visiting with my brother and sister-in-law's three Pugs and my mother-in-law's two Shiba Inus and two Rottweilers). Our ideal dog would be very comfortable around young children and other animals. We know we are looking for a bit of a "unicorn" pem, but we are in no rush. We would much rather wait a couple years for the dog that best fits our family than to rush into a dog that may be more comfortable in another home.

Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions
Who is this dog for?	For our family, though our 3.5 year-old son will certainly want to feel like a dog is for HIM specifically.
Why do you want a Pembroke?	Having previously owned Shibas, we're accustomed to (and prefer!) bossy dogs with big personalities. We love that Pembrokes are independent and intelligent "big dogs in little bodies", who enjoy being part of a loving family. From our research (and we've done lots!), we feel a Pembroke Welsh Corgi could do well in our home – keeping an active lifestyle, but rarely being left alone, and having some tolerance for little people (even if they end up occasionally herded!).
Activities planned with Pembroke:	We would love to play at home (including some basic training and perhaps simple tricks, if the dog is inclined), as well as walk, hike, and run with us.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:	When relevant, we would do a calm but firm no, followed by redirection and positive reinforcement (via treats, praise, etc.) when the desired behavior is shown instead.

Where would dog eat?	We would use a quiet area just off our bathroom where the dog could eat in peace (and away from little fingers!).
Where would dog sleep:	Wherever preferred by the dog, though it would be our default to start with a cozy bed in our room unless a crate is necessary (a crate would likely fit best into the playroom near our bedroom).
Play & exercise:	I'd love a dog who would happily walk the kids to school with me (~2.25 miles round trip), as well as other walks around our neighborhood (we do live downtown, so a dog that is comfortable with that is ideal), and perhaps also runs and longer hikes.
