Who is this dog for?

The Pembroke is for me, Denise.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
As a child my aunt & uncle had a Corgie on thier farm in Racine County Wisconsin. They obtained it from thier friend and Corgie breeder, Glee Leet, also from Union Grove WI. I played with "Copper" on the farm and loved to visit Glee's dogs and especailly her new puppies.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We live in a rural village in eastern Wisconsin, at the bottom of lake Winnebago. We would take walks…I need to be inspired to exercize and big brown Corgie eyes, begging or a walk is the best inspiration I can think of! We'll walk up to my church and do volunteer work there, and up to Mrs. Wyms house and visit her (she's 91!) And we'll hang around the house and watch some TV.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
I would look her in the eye, and using a firm (my most "teachery" voice, I would say, "NO!" If she needed to go outside, I'd take her out.

Discipline:
A firm voice, a harness and leash and an eyeball to eyeball look can convey what the dog needs to know.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:

Not ususally.

Where would dog eat?
In the kitchen.

Where would dog sleep:
Wherever she wants. But we would be happy to have her sleep in our bed room, on the floor, or on the bed.

Play & exercise:
We would do lots of walks, and get to know the dog park in Fond du Lac. Although we do not have a fenced back year, I believe she could be taught to respect the boundries of our property and not go beyond them. We have a wooded double lot that is adjacent to soft ball fields. We would probably walk back there and watch the games in the summer!

Description of yard:

We have a deck on the back side of the house. Steps lead down to the lawn. It is a double lot, wooded, adjecent to a community park featuring 3 ball fields in the summer and a football field in the fall. Our neighbors both have dogs – one a french bull dog and a "teddy bear." They are often tied out and bark a lot. (I feel sorry for them.) On the other side we have a VERY old German Pointer & a young Dachshund. They are ALWAYS attended by thier owners. Michelle would probably be happy to walk her dachshund with my Corgie and me!
