| Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions | |||||||
|
Who is this dog for? |
This corgi will be for myself, Meagan.
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
I've wanted to adopt a corgi since I was a little girl. A woman at my grandmother's apartment complex used to own a corgi, and when I used to come and visit, I would go on walks with them. I got to walk and play with the corgi, and thought it was cutest dog!! Ever since then, I've known I wanted one. Specifically, I love their stature and attitude. They're smart, obedient, independent, loving, and so much more. Over the past few years, I've done my own research on the breed, hoping to have my own someday. |
||||||
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
There are so many activities I would do with my corgi! I'm an active person myself, so we'd go on plenty of walks! There are also a few dog parks in my area, so we'd have to try that too!. Even though I like my exercise, I also love days where I can relax on the couch, so I hope the corgi would like that too! Also, a lot of my friends and family have dogs, so I would bring my corgi with me to a lot of events to play with the other dogs. I also never oppose to a game of fetch or tug-o-war!

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
If the corgi makes a mistake, I would try to catch it right away. Use words like "no" to let the corgi something was done wrong. Correct the behavior asap.
Discipline: |
I would try to use constructive punishment, so they would quickly learn what they did wrong and try to do better. Also would use words like No, and train them properly. I would never hit a dog.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
The corgi would spend most of their time at my house in Duluth, MN.

House dog or outside dog? |
House dog | ||||||
People at home during the day? |
Yes, there are people at my house throughout the day. I currently live with my boyfriend and another couple. There is always at least one person at home.
Where would dog eat? |
Since my current roommate also has a dog, I would have the corgi eat in my bedroom to avoid the chance of any protective/aggressive behaviors towards the food. My roommate's dog doesn't possess these behaviors, but better to be safe!
Where would dog sleep: |
The corgi would either sleep in my bed, or on a doggy bed near mine.
Play & exercise: |
The corgi will have a lot of opportunities to play and exercise. I plan on walking the corgi at least twice a day. Once right away in the morning, and once at night If I have the day off, or extra time in the day, I'd love to take the corgi outside to play or to parks! There are so many trails in Duluth we'd have to try!

Description of yard: |
We live on the corner lot of the block. The yard is private, surrounded by bushes and trees making it hard to see the yard. There is a spot in the back yard for two cars to park, and an area big enough for the corgi to play. However, the yard isn't fenced. I would keep the corgi on a long leash, just incase. There's also a park kitty corner from our house.
