Who is this dog for?

Both Adam and I

Why do you want a Pembroke?
1. Every Pembroke that I have ever met has been very friendly and sweet, which we want in a dog. We do hope to have kids someday, so we don't want a dog that is not friendly.
2. Pembrokes are one of my favorite breeds, and one of the breeds that my husband and I can agree on. I grew up with only large dogs; he grew up with only small dogs, but we both agree that a Corgi would be perfect.
3. I have read about Pembrokes, both online and in books.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
1. I am an avid runner. I would take him/her on easy runs (not my workouts), which usually consist of a mile or two at a very easy pace.
2. All the walkies! We have access to the Fred Meijer Standale Trail from our apartment. We are also only a five minutes' drive from Millenium Park, Aman Park, and downtown GR.
3. Dog parks

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
I would firmly yet kindly let him/her know that it was a mistake, but I do not believe in yelling at dogs, kicking/hitting them, or any other form of intense punishment.

Discipline:
Positive affirmation/rewards. That works with my students, and it worked with Kiwi, our Lab.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In our apartment or on walkies/car rides with us. We moved to Walker recently, but we plan to find dog-friendly places to go so our dog can go with us whenever we go out.

House dog

People at home during the day?
Right now, Adam is home all afternoon on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Mondays/Wednesdays we're both at work for eight hours. On weekends one of us is almost always home, except for Mass.

Where would dog eat?
In the kitchen

Where would dog sleep:
If he/she feels more comfortable in a crate, then in there. If not, we are fine with him/her sleeping in his/her own bed in our room, or on the couch, or in his/her own bed in the living room if he/she prefers.

Play & exercise:
We live very close to Aman Park, Millenium Park, and downtown GR. We also have access to the Fred Meijer Standale Trail from our apartment. One or both of us (but mostly Emily) would take him/her for walkies every day, at least once or twice (more if necessary). I would also bring him/her on easy runs with me, and to dog parks.
