Why do you want a Pembroke?
We love Pembrokes because they're so kind with humans and other animals, and we love how smart and clever they are. We've had relatives with corgis that we absolutely love interacting with, and Lucy's workplace has two corgis that come in and out of her work place that she's gotten to know over the past two years whom she loves playing with. We also love how fast they run, it's so much fun to watch them bolt off when you're throwing toys for them. We've done research on the breed, watched some informational videos to understand what the typical characteristics of the dogs are, and how to care for them best.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We have a pretty big fenced in yard with a pool that we love taking our current dog in, so we'd love for the corgi to join us! We live in a quiet neighborhood with some parks and church yards that we walk to as well.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Try to determine why the mistake was made, i.e. was it human error? Were we not clear on something and confused the dog? Or does the dog require further training? With our current dog, we use commands like "no" and "down"

Discipline:
We use positive reinforcement techniques – reward the dog wth praise, and if motivated by treats, use dog approved treats. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Stay calm with the dog and watch to see if they understand what you are asking them to do.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Our current dog has full access to our home. We would acclimate a new dog to our home and as they become comfortable they would also have full range. The dog would also have our fenced in back yard.

People at home during the day?
Yes. Ann works full time, but is 5 minutes from home, and usually comes home at lunch to walk the dog. Ann's husband is retired and is home most days.

Where would dog eat?
In the kitchen. They would have their own designated food bowl and water bowl.

Where would dog sleep:
They would have their own dog bed. Once comfortable in our home the bed can be placed in any room. Our current dog sleeps in the master bedroom on a dog bed.

Play & exercise:
The dog would be walked every day and played with by throwing toys, tug of war and interacting with our other dog. When Lucy is home from school she can take the dog on runs with her. The dog will frequently be taken to parks to run and play.
