Why do you want a Pembroke?
I have done loads of research on the breed and feel in love with the fact that they are a "big dog in a little body". Growing up with my golden retriever, I have always been used to a bigger dog. But interacting with other corgis I know that the size will be perfect for what I am looking for. I love how smart they are and how they are they are active but will also be loving and be by your side when you want to sit down. I am very aware that corgis are a herding breed and will always need to be stimulated or they will find ways to keep themselves occupied. When doing my research on what breed of dogs were considered to be best for emotional support animals, corgis were always towards top. I have never owned a corgi or lived with one before but I have close family friends who have and when I mentioned that I was looking in that direction they have encouraged me strongly to pursue, saying it was the best family dog they have ever had. Probably my favorite thing about corgis are their personality. Their personalities are so big and unique that I can't help but feel that this is the breed for me.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We would be taking lots of walks around campus and back home. I go home quite often (I am from Livonia) and my family has a one acre fenced in yard and very frequent company from my sister's precious Lab/Malamute mix. I also live with 2 other roommates who will frequently be home when I am not and are already down for the idea of having a dog live with us. There are also dog parks I will register for when the time comes so he/she can socialize with other dogs and have the freedom of a fenced yard here in Kalamazoo. Car rides are also very frequent in my daily life.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
I would sure to handle the issue as quickly as possible to they are aware of which behavior they did that was wrong. NOT yelling, but instead making sure to teach the alternate behavior. I would also remove my attention by putting them in their crate for a bit.

Discipline:
teaching the correct behavior, not yelling or being too harsh, removing my attention, putting them in their crate for a bit.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
They will spend most of their time in my apartment with my roommates and I, except for when we take them outside for walks, exercise, bathroom, etc. They would be sleeping in my room in a crate.
