Who is this dog for?

The corgi will be for me. We had a Husky Chow Chow mix who unfortunately passed away about five or six years ago, and I have finally decided that I ready to have another dog.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I would love to have a Corgi because we agreed that a smaller indoor dog would be better for the apartment. Since I have started my job as a Desktop Support Engineer I may not be able to take the dog out on a walk as much as I would hope but reading into corgis I have read that having a back yard for them to run in would be great for them as well. I have seen that they can be stubborn during training which is fine for me as I used to have a Husky for 13 years and his training was a challenge but ultimately rewarding and fun for the both of us. The only experience I have with corgis is the short amount of time I was able to spend with my friend's corgis. And the few times I would see them when I used to work at Home Depot.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
For the most part I would like the dog to be more of a companion at home. But I would do my best to take him or her out on daily walks. When it's not possible to take them out I would play with them in the back yard and take them to the park that's near the house. There is also another dog in the building, hopefully they get along well and we can have play dates between them. There is also a running trail very close to my house that I tend to use on the weekends during the Spring and Summer.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
It would depend on the mistake. For example, I helped train the pitbull that lives in the apartment below us, when she would potty off of the training bad I would immediately clean it, and spray her with a mist bottle full of water. And I would reward her with a belly rub when she would potty on the training pad. If she would potty outside she'd get a treat. For the most part I tend to use a spray bottle for very bad behaviors that need to be dealt with immediately such as attempting to bite someone. For the smaller ones, such as nipping to get attention I stop giving the dog attention or do small time out sessions. I do this to show the dog that certain actions will not gain them the satisfaction they seek. I did this with the husky and once he understood he never nipped at me or anyone else. He also understood that barking was okay for alerting us which was amazing.

Discipline:
For our previous dog we used a spray bottle for extreme cases such as attempting to bite people, or the two times he attempted to jump on my cousin who was a toddler at the time. For the rest every time he made a mistake or did something we did not like we either ignored him for a minute, or put him in time out for a minute. We never did it for too long because we were afraid it would affect him somehow.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
They will spend a majority of their time inside the apartment, and when it's nicer outside we will spend a lot more time out in the back yard as we all tend to be outdoors during the summer.
