Who is this dog for?

myself

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I've always loved Corgis! A very good friend has 3 corgis, and I just think they are the best dogs. I love that they can be active, running around, going for sunset walks, and that they can also be big cuddly couch potatoes. I've babysat her dogs several times, and I love that they cuddle in bed at the end of the day.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I love going for walks around my neighborhood (I even walk in the winter). I also live about 5 minutes from a really nice, large dog park. I have lots of friends with dogs, so doggy playdates would be a must. I also ride horses, so my dog would accompany me to the barn.

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?
Yes

Money for basic care?

Yes

Money for unforeseen medical expenses?
Yes

Willing to house train?
Yes
Willing to do formal training? Yes

Do you have a veterinarian?

Yes

Vet contact info:
{If yes, please provide contact information including the vet’s name, clinic name, street address, city, state, zip, and phone. Also include the website if there is one.:52}

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
First, I would figure out what triggered the mistake, then I would work with the dog to correct the problem.

Discipline:
I've worked with horses for 25 years and understand that harsh discipline never works, it only creates fear, and animals don't learn through fear. If the dog needed obedience training, I would be willing to take it.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In my home.

People at home during the day?
Depends on the time of year. I'm a college professor, so during the summer I am home most of the day. During the school year, I am gone for about 5 hours, but often have breaks where I could quickly run home to let the dog out.

Where would dog eat?
Whatever my veterinarian recommends, I always trust my vets food choices.

Where would dog sleep:
Wherever they would like to sleep, preferably in bed with me, or on a dog bed in my bedroom.

Play & exercise:
I'm pretty active, so the dog will be walked several times a day. I also live about 5 minutes from a large dog park, and would love to take the dog there to exercise.
