Who is this dog for?

Terry and Cindy Halderman

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I love corgis. I love how smart and loyal they are. I love their sweet happy faces. I love their bossy little ways. I love their poofy little butts. I miss mine so bad it's killing me. We were best friends for so long. I loved her so much.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I took her everywhere with me. We walked and played more when she was young. She used to frolic in the garden and run around the pond. She was a wonderful companion. She had arthritis when she got older, so she was more of a couch buddy, which was great. She loved people and loved to ride in grocery carts. She was never happier than when the wheels were rolling under her butt.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
A firm tone of voice is all you need with a corgi. It also helps to give them plenty of opportunities for positive reinforcement. Consistency is important. Extra effort in the first year makes for a joyful lifetime with a well behaved pet.

Discipline:
Only a firm tone of voice. I'm very patient with animals. I would never hit an animal. Respect goes both ways.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In the house with me as nature intended.

House dog

People at home during the day?
I dont work so I'm home most days.

Where would dog eat?
I used to feed Puddin her kibble twice a day, usually while I was eating too. Of course I always shared tidbits with her. She loved oranges, strawberries and watermelon.

Where would dog sleep:
With me of course. We may have to start with a crate, depending on the dog.

Play & exercise:
My 1 year old 16lb poodle mix Poppy, loves to play. We have 3 acres of fenced gardens and pond area. There is also a more securely fenced yard area off the back of the house. Poppy has a major excavation going on under the lilac bush.

How will you exercise your dog?
Both on leash and restrained to the yard

Fenced yard?

Yes, I have a fenced in yard.

Willing to pick up dog waste?
Yes, I will clean up after my dog.

Willing to use a crate?
The whole 3 acres has farm fencing which was always adequate to restrain Puddin. The "backyard area" also has chain link type fencing and wrought iron fence around the back patio. It's very safe for corgis.
