Who is this dog for?

 Me! My name is Grace Cone, I am 21 years old, and live in the Twin Cities in MN.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have loved corgi's ever since I found out about them. I love their personalities and how they can do a lot more than people think they can just because of their size. Other than them being adorable, I think they'd be a great dog for me. This next fall, Fall 2020, I will be living on my own with no roommates except my cat… I feel like I have waited so long to finally have a corgi of my own and for it to be the right time, so now I want to start looking! I have had friends who have had corgi's that I spend time with, but I have never had one myself. My family has only had Portuguese Water Dogs and cats. I've done some research, and I see they used to be herding dogs which is cool – I've been trying to look more at what their activity level would be, for most I see they're pretty active.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I want a corgi that can spend time with me watching movies and being able to have a lowkey night, but can also go hiking with me and can go on long walks. I would consider myself an active person, and I love being outside, so a dog that can be active with me and exercise with me would be great.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		I suppose it depends on what the mistake was. I try to handle accidents or mistakes rationally – I work at an animal shelter and act as if those animals are mine. If it's a consistent thing, like potty-training, I would try to use positive reinforcement and use treats/toys as a reward. Then if a mistake was made, then take the reward away and correct the issue.

Discipline:
 My family was big on positive reinforcement, using treats and toys as a reward for good behavior. The biggest thing I would do for discipline would be like a "timeout", or send the dog to a different area of the home (my family would send our dog to their bed/kennel, but I struggle with that because I want them to see that as a safe/good space). Then give treats afterwards to reward positive behavior. If I'm being honest, a lot of dogs we have had have all been really well-trained, so we didn't do a lot of disciplining other than a "timeout".

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 In my apartment! I am moving in the fall to a new apartment in St. Paul where I will be living with my cat. It is a one bedroom apartment.

 I consider myself an active person, and I like to hike a lot. I would take my corgi on frequent hikes, long walks, and play time at a dog park. I would also love to take the corgi to my family's home to play with our family dog – she loves other dogs.

 Yes. My cat Floyd has been around dogs before and is a sassy boy, but he has never tried to ever hurt a dog. He likes them, even if he doesn't act like it. I would be open to working with the dog if they didn't know how to act/didn't like Floyd.
