Who is this dog for? |
Amanda and Walter | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
We want to adopt a Pembroke Welsh Corgi because we fell in love with the breed when we adopted Kenny in 2015. Kenny was an elderly Pembroke who was surrendered by his owners, and we enjoyed giving him the best final years of his life. After living with Kenny, we decided that the Pembroke breed has a huge place in our heart, and we'd like to help any Pembroke in need.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
We would like to take our Pembroke on walks through the Forest Preserve near us. We also have a large fenced backyard that would be ideal for daily play.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
If the Pembroke makes a mistake, we would reinforce positive behavior to mitigate any mistakes happening. When mistakes happen, we would use verbal cues to try to teach him/her the right thing to do. We would be proactive about addressing the behavior as it's happening.
Discipline: |
When disciplining a dog, we will use our voices to stop unwanted behavior and implement time-outs as needed, while reinforcing good behavior with treats.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
Our Pembroke would spend most of it's time with us, and when we are not home, depending on the Pembroke's previous life, we would have a dedicated area of the house for the dog to occupy.
