Who is this dog for?

Theodore and Sean.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I (Theodore) grew up with a Cardigan Corgi (Limo) and he was the sweetest dog ever. We got him from a breeder in Alaska as a retired show dog. Out of all of the dogs we had growing up, he had the biggest personality. They are just fun dogs. My Partner (Sean) also grew up with two Pembroke Corgis (Lilly and Bobo) and he absolutely loves the breed as well. As a breed, we know how feisty they are, but also how loving and caring they are. We are also familiar with their need for regular walks and the fact that they shed ALOT. Growing up, there were always tumbleweeds of corgi and smoked fur in our house.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Go for regular walks. Take them with us Camping. Lap dog while relaxing at night. Also, any additional activities that they would like to do. Every dog I ever have had has had different personalities. Some like to play fetch, some like tug of war, some like to play tag. So, it actually depends on what the corgi likes to do to play, I would incorporate that into what we like to do as well.

Aware that Pembrokes are busy, noisy dogs?
Yes

Money for basic care?

Yes

Money for unforeseen medical expenses?
Yes

Willing to house train?
Yes
Willing to do formal training? Yes

Do you have a veterinarian?

Yes

Vet contact info:
{If yes, please provide contact information including the vet’s name, clinic name, street address, city, state, zip, and phone. Also include the website if there is one.:52}

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Point at them and firmly say “No”.

Discipline:
Point at them and firmly say “No”. Also like to use social distancing to let them know their behavior was bad. The combination of the two, depending on the severity of the action seems to work really well.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In the house with Sean and I. We do have a good sized yard (~10,500 sq. Ft. Lot) for them to roam around as well, when they want to.

House dog or outside dog?

House dog

People at home during the day?
Yes. My partner is currently at home all the time and would be available.

Where would dog eat?
In our house, in the kitchen. That would be were their food bowl would be.

Where would dog sleep:
It depends. If they are well behaved, then most likely with us. If not, then on their bed in the living room. If they cannot be trusted, then we might have to resort to a kennel. Which is not what we would prefer to do. I only mention that because our last dog was a beagle rescue who was over 8 years old when we adopted him, and we could never leave him out, cause he wouldn’t respond to training and would urinate all over the house, if left unsupervised.

Play & exercise:
Tons. We are very active walkers and plan to bring our corgi with us every time we go walking. Which we do everyday.

How will you exercise your dog?
Both on leash and restrained to the yard

Fenced yard?

No, I don’t have a fenced in yard.

Willing to pick up dog waste?
Yes, I will clean up after my dog.

Description of yard:

We have a ranch home with a walk out basement into the backyard. The lot size is ~10,500 sq ft. Most of the yard is grass, but we do have lots of shade owing to our 9 trees (mostly maple). The only hazard we have would be the creek at the end of our lot. But, it is very shallow at less than a foot deep.

Household members:
{Describe all the people who live in your home, include names, ages and interests. For example, Mary Smith, 29, Enjoys cooking, dog training, gardening and running.:75}

Yes, everyone agrees and wants to adopt a Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

Yes, I will allow LPWCR representatives to inspect my home prior to allowing me to adopt a Pembroke.

Who will be responsible for the adopted corgi’s care?
Sean Rummelhart

Any allergies?

No one is allergic.

Current pets:

{Please list and describe all of the pets that currently live in your home, including the name, type, age, sex and whether it is neutered. For example, Lenny, komodo dragon, 3 years old, not neutered.:80}

Current pets dog friendly?

Are you willing to work on it if your new dog doesn’t get along with your current pets right away?
Absolutely. Right now, since we don’t have any other pets, we don’t have to worry about that. But, in the future, if we were to adopt a second dog, then we would make a prerequisite that the new dog must be able to get along with our current dog. Which is why it would be important for them to meet, before adopting a second dog.

Lifetime commitment to Pembroke?

Yes, I am willing to commit to this dog for the rest of its life.

Return to Lakeshore if unable to care for Pembroke?
Yes, I will only surrender my adopted corgi to LPWCR if I am unable to care for it.

Understand no guarantees?

Yes, I understand that there are no guarantees regarding the condition, health, behavior or personality of the Pembroke I adopt.

Carefully considered the pluses and minuses of adopting a pet?
Yes, I have carefully thought out my decision to adopt a Pembroke and am willing to deal with the consequences.
