Who is this dog for?

For ourselves (Alicia & Jacob)

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We live in an apartment, so a small-to-midsized dog is best. I really enjoy teaching dogs new things and keeping them active through different types of stimulations. I’ve always had dogs that shed, so the fur is not a problem. Given the Corgis temperament, size, and intelligence, I feel that it is one of the few breeds that checks every requirement for my partner and I. We are aware of how vocal they can be, but through past experiences with other vocal dogs, I know that a lot of it is from lack of physical and mental stimulation. I work from home, so any Corgi that needs the extra attention or potty breaks is easy to accommodate.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
My partner and I go on a daily 4 mile walk/run (he runs and I walk/jog). We would take our Corgi with us to enjoy the trail. And afterwards (depending on how the Corgi reacts to the walk) we would take him to our local dog park to socialize and liberate any extra energy.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Depends. Was it in their control or not? Do they know that it is wrong? If it was in their control and they know better, in a firmer voice say “No” and point at their mistake, then take them outside to finish their business. Clean up the area to eliminate the scent. If they broke something or are prone to chewing (like, munching on shoes) say “No” and simply try not leaving the items alone with the dog (for example, keeping the shoes in a closed closet)

Discipline:
I say “No” in a stern voice and facial expression while pointing to whatever it is that they did wrong.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In the apartment
