Who is this dog for?

We are looking for a new friend for our current Pembroke, who recently lost her lifelong friend Leo, who was our 12 year old collie mix. Our corgi Cherry has only known Leo as her pal since she was 2 months old. She needs a new friend and we are looking for a good fit. We have a 9 year old daughter that Cherry loves and cherishes, but she is really missing a 4 legged companion… as we all are.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We current have a Pembroke and we love her so much that we want to give another Pembroke who needs a home our love. We are addicted to their unique personalities and admire their loyalty and intelligence. We would love to give Cherry a new companion that will give her the 4 legged friendship she is missing now with Leo gone.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We love to go on waddle walks with our current Pembroke, and we do laps in our backyard, play hide and seek ( cherry loves this), we go on car rides, take trips to the lake, and snuggle a lot! But we also respect Cherry's need for some space and alone time, which she likes in her "lair" (underneath our chaise lounge).

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
We used a lot of guidance with Cherry and patience. She is incredibly smart and picked up on our cues very easily. Consistency is key.

Discipline:
We had a timeout area for Cherry, which we haven't had to use for quite some time. It was a separate area from her kennel or sleep area. We use high pitch noise to discourage her if she needs any discipline, but it rarely occurs. We find plenty of exercise and attention helps to curb the extra behavior that may occur with doggies that need discipline. We also provide plenty of toys and chewies and that helps!

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
With our family and our current Pembroke Cherry. We are home during the day and night. If we travel, Cherry goes with us.
