Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions
Who is this dog for? |
for our family: Jason, Erika, and Sam (16 year old son) |
||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
Our family would love the opportunity to adopt a Corgi. Over the years, we’ve had many pets including two cats, guinea pigs, and even a frog. We’ve been in the process of considering adopting a dog for several years, and as such, we’ve done tremendous amounts of research on Corgis and on other breeds. We are especially interested in Corgis due to their intelligence, playful nature, and warm personalities.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
We have a reasonably-sized house and a large yard, and we’d love to play outside with the dog. There are many walking paths and parks near our house for us to walk the dog. After the pandemic is over, we would also love to travel with the dog.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
We would clean up the accident right away. In the future, we'd encourage the dog to go outside and positively reinforce their good behavior.
Discipline: |
For any negative behavior, we would first look back at our own actions and assess the problem.
We would thoroughly doggy-proof the house and spend additional time playing with the dog to prevent any destructive behavior. If the dog showed repeated negative behavior towards humans, we would look into additional training classes for them. In general, we'd always use positive reinforcement to encourage good behavior. |
||||||
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
The Corgi would spend most of their time inside, wherever they want. All areas accessible to the dog would be doggy-proofed.
Any time the Corgi spends outside would either be enclosed (within the confines of the fence or on a tether) or supervised. |
