Who is this dog for?

Our family. We have 1 extremely loved corgi boy already and are looking to adopt another to love. We love trails, the outdoors and road trips. We are an active young couple that loves taking our stumpy legged buddy everywhere with us!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
The corgi breed is every intelligent, I love training my corgi and he loves showing me what he wants/needs. He’s a great companion for my husband who has Chronns and is just so helpful when he’s on a bad day of his condition. I taught the puppy early to lay on his stomach when my husbands got a bad day and now he knows the cues and loves helping and giving comfort. They’re so loving, loyal and are wonderful companions with huge personalities. They do require a lot of exercise and mental stimulation and we provide that adamantly for our little guy.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We’re and active family that loves to road trip and visit friends, go to parks, trails, cities and keep life an adventure. The pup goes everywhere with us and is just as excited to start a trip as we are.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
It’s a perfect opportunity to retrain and make a happy moment of it. When our dog was a puppy he’d accidentally potty in the house and it meant he needed to know we could provide many more opportunities to let him potty outside. So every hour we’d take him outside and gradually increase times in between trips as the days went on. He learned within a week and now sits by the door and lets us know when he’s gotta go. He’s been the quickest and easiest to train and still surprises us on how much he picks up from cues.

Discipline:
Well we have a schedule and routine so the the dog is always exercised before we leave for any amount of time without him so that he’s tired, content and has no desire to destroy items in the house. He has appropriate toys to chew if needed with supervision and I spent years in training classes and on my own time training with him on appropriate barking/reactivity and commands. I love training corgis, they’re wonderfully responsive and so eager to please. Discipline is hardly necessary when you take the time to invest and train the dog.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
With us at home or traveling/adventuring. Our dog has never spent a day without us and if needed only gets watched by a trusted few. Our trips are dog centered and we love it!!
