Questions Regarding Motivation for Adopting and Intentions
Who is this dog for? |
Kylie Abrams | ||||||
Why do you want a Pembroke? |
I previously owned a pembroke welsh corgi that now lives with my parents, as my father loves her and I got very busy in college for a few years, so he was super excited to take care of her. I'm graduated and have been in my job for almost a year now and have adjusted to my new schedule. My previous corgi is now very comfortable living with my parents and she's also very very old and won't live much longer, so I won't be taking her back. She should live out the rest of her time with them. I visit her often and miss her so much, she was my best friend. I'm now ready to own a corgi again and have the time to care for one and am ready for another best friend.
Activities planned with Pembroke: |
I live right next to a park so I'd love to take one there with me. There's lots of room to run around and I'd love to teach it to fetch and do other fun things to play. I also don't live far from a dog park so I'd love to watch it interact with other dogs if it gets along well with dogs. My old corgi was a huge snuggle bug, so I'd hope my new corgi will love to snuggle and sleep by me too.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: |
Repetition and consistency always worked best with my previous corgi. I trained her out of several bad behaviors, such as barking too much, being naughty when I'm eating and begging for food, etc. Being patient and fixing the mistake consistently and with rewards when they don't make the mistake is what always works for me.
Discipline: |
Sometimes I would lightly "boop" my corgi on the nose and firmly say "No." when she was being bad. Usually though I just don't give in to what she wants until she stops barking/sits for me, etc. and that's what she learns from. I have NEVER, ever hit or harmed my or any dog and I never will.
Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time: |
I have a spacious two story townhome with a large park next to it and depending on the corgis personality it would either spend a lot of time on the couch or in its bed relaxing or it could spend a lot of time at the park. I adopted my previous corgi when she was 5 and she needed a lot of time exercising and being active. But now she mostly lays around all day. So it would just depend on the type of dog I get matched with.
