Who is this dog for?

The family. We just lost our amazing Isaac a little over a month ago. He was a pure Pembroke Welsh Corgi and had a ton of excitement to him. The house hasn't been quite the same missing our friend and we want to bring a new one into the family.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We adopted our first and only Pembroke Welsh Corgi about 8 years ago. He wasn't in a good place and had some aggression in him. We quickly got him moving in the right direction and he started enjoying our company. We always spent time with him and brought him to our place of work to make sure he was with us. He was a very vocal dog, he told us what he needed and when! You must pay attention to them as they are very interested in what you are doing. He loved to herd us around the house. As time went on, i think he knew he could keep us all in the house without doing so. the love for knowing where everyone was at all times was very cute. We love the energy from corgis and we continue to have customers bring their corgis in now that Isaac is gone. We dealt with cancer in Isaac, so the last year was very involved in taking care of what he needed. He did wonderful and did so many months after diagnosis.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We would play ball all the time. Go on adventurous walks on our land and in parks. Enjoying the outdoors in our beautiful lawn where they can chase butterfly's and run free! Something i loved doing with Isaac was teaching him new tricks. Paw was the easy one, then it was sitting on his butt up right and he could stay steady! roll over was another i was able to teach him in the years we were able to have him with us.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
It depends on the mistake, if its a simple nip. then replacing what they are nipping with a toy may help. It is necessary to show them what they did wrong and maybe having a time out area would suffice. Keeping the dog active will also prevent unnecessary behavior.

Discipline:
Guiding the dog instead of yelling is the only way to discipline a dog to get them to understand what they are doing is wrong. another step can be to ignore the nip or bite as if it doesn't bother you, hoping to trigger the dog and show that won't help get them what they want.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
we would have the dog at home, but with the parents of the house owning their own sewing shop. We had success having Isaac, our old Pemroke, at the business. My mom has her own office in which can be used for nap time, and in the back with dad, they would be able to play and run around without getting hurt.

Play & exercise:
We always have the toy basket out. When its time to play, they can tell us with any toy they want. We always had a regimen to play in the morning when we wake up. during the day almost all day, and when i got home from work. Walks are done in the morning after breakfast and at night after dinner. We have a wonderful 2 acre lot with 1.5 acres of free space. We trained Isaac for knowledge of where the yard is and to stay close at all times.
