Who is this dog for?

Both of us.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
A corgi is a smaller dog that is so smart and training will be essential for a Corgi to be part of our home. We understand that the Corgi is a herding breed. We don't have experience with a Corgi. We have owned a collie and two German Shepherd Dogs and understand the need of a herding dog to be active in daily exercise. We have researched the breed and understand that it has become "fashionable" breed to own because of the popularity in Britain. That's is not our intent to bring this breed into our home.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Daily walks (morning and evening, weather permitting). Play time both in the house and in the yard. We will take him/her to obedience classes where he/she would be socialized and be trained in a group setting with distractions. We are also looking into agility training.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
It depends on the mistake. There are so many training methods to teach a dog the behavior you want from them. If the dog eliminates in the house, take it out and let them know the proper place to eliminate. Then clean up the mess so the dog doesn't go in the same place again.

Discipline:
Positive training. No harsh discipline. Let the dog the know what you expect from it. Training is not just on a one-case basis. It's a lifelong mission.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Run of house with some crate training, if necessary.
