Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Yes, I have researched the breed. I have friends who own corgis, and I've fallen in love with the breed. As I stated earlier, I raised an Australian shepherd from 8 weeks to 14 years of age. I now feel a corgi would better fit my lifestyle, as the aussie required rigorous activity. I feel a corgi will be easier to manage. I do want one that is accustomed to daily grooming.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I live next to Bloomer State Park. Going for walks will be high on the activity list. Obedience training is a must. Here in Michigan are several walking trails. I have a nice sized yard to play games. I own my own home. Housebreaking is not a problem as I'm home all the time now. We will be taking car rides, but I would never leave the dog in the car unattended.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have done research on the breed and have known for about three years that it would be the perfect dog for me. Growing up, I always had big dogs. I love, but know if I had the dog for myself a big dog may be challenging to take care of. Corgis are a perfect size and have heard that they have the "big dog in a small dog personality". I would live in an apartment which I have read is a compatible environment for the breed as well. I also love how they become attached to their owners and know my dog will always be loyal if I had a corgi.

 I have a dog park 2 minutes away so going there would be a daily activity. I would go for walks down the city, play ball at the park, and socialize with other dogs from friends and family.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We would like a companion for our current pup but also would like to complete our family. We love our current pup Waffles. We love her expressions, how friendly she is, how quickly she learns new things, how good she is around people and other dogs. We did research on the breed before we got Waffles.

 We take Waffles anywhere we can. During COVID times that is a little more limited but we take her on trips, to the store, to visit friends, long walk, to work occasionally. She loves to travel and be with us doing whatever we are doing. Daily we take her on 2-3 walks a day. We play fetch with her. We have several different "thinking" toys we've given her over the time we've had her to make her use her mind to get treats.

 We had a Corgi for over 12 years who recently died of old age, She was a cardigan rescue. We love the breed. I have had Great Pyrenees for most of my life, my last one died several years ago and have been active with Pyr Rescue, GPRGC. I also love the corgi which they have the personality of a large dog but with the benefit of having short legs and can't reach the counter.

Simba was more laid-back. He loved walking/running all over our property. He was a cuddler, and was a virtuoso at working humans (he would place his head on my leg when he wanted a treat (super cute). He taught Zuzu some things and in return Zuzu taught Simba how to bark and be more vocal.


Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Walking and hanging out mostly. Zuzu likes to train. She like "go-arounds," "go-get-your-treat," "roll-over," and duration stays. She likes to play catch and "find your baby." She is also good at walking near us when unleashed and heels when on leash.

Simba was more all over the place on our property. He foraged new trails and was always 60 feet ahead of us. He loved our home and property.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		I would tell her, "No." Then, if possible, I would have her do it the correct way, and then give her a treat. Depending on the mistake, she may need to go in her crate for a time-out; not long, about 6 minutes.

Play & exercise:
 We walk our dogs daily, often two times daily. Zuzu has her routine of training maneuvers. Zuzu and Simba loved to wrestle and did this daily, often twice a day. In some ways, our adopted corgi will be a companion to Zuzu, as well as Rick (and me).

In nice weather, Zuzu and Simba are outside with us when he are doing yard work. Like most dogs, they like(d) to explore.

 Yes. Simba and Zuzu at times got into a fight. Zuzu usually brought most of the energy to these conflicts, but Simba let her know he would not be walked over. We all have learned — Simba too — what Zuzu's triggers are (she is a resource guarder).

Simba was a great dog. He enjoyed wrestling with Zuzu, and would playfully chase after her; Zuzu loves playing "chase me." Simba also learned to hang back when appropriate. He did not like conflict. None of us do, including Zuzu.

After a conflict, Zuzu would get a time out (she likes her crate, as it helps to calm her). Simba would get a time out too, sometimes, depending on how we felt the interaction progressed. He did not like his crate, so for him it was more of a punishment then a cooling off period. Most times, however, Simba was defending himself.
