Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I love that Pembroke Welsh Corgis are often both energetic and playful but also cuddly. I look forward to working on training with a corgi as they are usually very smart and finding my furry companion! I've explored breeders because I am so drawn to this specific breed but really want to be able to give a homeless dog his/her forever home.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Walks to the park, couch cuddling, training/learn new ticks, possibly explore some easy hiking trails outside of the city, and hopefully play with him and my nephew on a sunny day in their backyard once this global pandemic has cleared.

Who is this dog for?

 The Pembroke would be an addition to our family. Alex has a dog before started dating, and I have come to fill the 'mother' role for our boy Bruce. Bruce is a 3-year old rescue cattle dog that LOVES other dogs. We are interested in adopting a second dog that would be loved by all three of us.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have always been a small dog fan, and after living in the Andersonville area, we see many corgi's out on walks with our dog. I love the personalities that come from the corgi's we see. We are a family of diverse and loud personalities, so finding a pup that would fit into that mix is important. Since Pembroke's are headers by nature, the addition to our family, may it be loud, would be full of energy and love.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We would like to have an active outdoor life, with going on walks and out to patios with our pet. We enjoy going to the dog park to socialize and currently send Bruce to day care a few times a week on our longer days to ensure that he is not feeling lonely, and we would continue to do this as well with a new addition.

We have a gated back yard that we use for fetch as well.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		I predominately use verbal reprimands. I am not a fan of corporal punishment. I have tapped our current dog on the head before.

 My partner and I are finishing our last year of law school so our schedule for the next year is very open and we are in and out of the house at more random hours during the working day. Starting in Fall 2021, we will have a more traditional hours, however, we will likely increase the amount of day care hours when we come to that point.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I like the size, temperament, and exercise requirements and how they could work with my lifestyle. I'm a recent college graduate looking for my first dog as I grew up with cats. A friend of mine in college had one, but that's most of the experience I've had with them. I know they are prone to weight gain and are traditionally herding dogs.

Who is this dog for?

 The 2 of us. We own our own home. Our last friend passed away 4 years ago. She was 13 (Belgian Trevurn from West Michigan Humane Society at 6 months). Over the last 30 years we've had 3 Siberian Huskies. Before children we were involved with the West Michigan Agility Club and dabbled in obedience too (with the Huskies). Now that we're older would like a smaller dog. We've been to several community Corgi event in the Grand Rapids area and have spoken with several breeders. We are not in a position to pay $1,500 or more at this time in our lives. We've been checking our local shelters for a few years but only finding big dogs and lots of put bulls.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We loved our Huskies but want something smaller now that were older. A Corgi is a big dog in a smaller package. We still are active and have visited a breeder and have meet multiple owners and their corgis at several community Corgi events in the Grand Rapids area.

Activities planned with Pembroke:

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Obviously, they're one of the cutest animals and soft and fluffy, but aside from that, I'm looking to propose to my girlfriend and I believe having a corgi will be a great way to start out our little family. We definitely need something to help keep us active and because Corgis need such attention and activity it would be perfect for us. We've talked about getting a dog for years and I think its a great time to pull the trigger and find one to love!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Daily walks would be a great starter. Constant attention giving and games inside are fine too, but shouldn't take away from their need to get physical activity. We love doggy parks and if the dog is great with other animals we would love to bring him or her with us to get some air, meet other cute puppers, and mingle. Also of course, belly scritches.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		Act quick! I wouldn't hurt the dog by any means, but he should understand what he did is not okay. If I don't nudge him right away, he won't know what he did wrong. Telling him "No!" is adequate I think, but obviously I have to be harsher if he's not understanding. Again, I would never hurt the animal, but my tone can really tell the animal a lot and that is plenty.

After adequate time, they can have belly scritches again.

 Nothing physical. Just verbal and obvious motions that make me seems upset. I would put it in terms that they can understand.

Who is this dog for?

 We are looking for a Corgi or Corgi mix for our family. We are a family of 5 and will be caring for the dog together (Melissa and Bryan, as parents, supervising, of course).

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We love Corgis because they are just so smart. They are curious, adventuresome, and have such strong personalities. Our Corgi mix (we think Corgi and Jack Russell) is extremely smart — we actually bought a second dog when she was 1-2 years old because we felt she needed more mental stimulation than we could give her at the time (and it really worked!). She is also a pretty dominant dog, but she will patiently take her time to outwit us or any other dog she plays with. We have rules and have trained her (she is 12 years old now), but we joke that she is still training us. 🙂 We are NOT unfamiliar with the strong personality of the Corgi and we would do our best to keep a new dog's mind and body active.

For example, chewing on the wrong thing — we would be sure to emphasize what *can* be chewed on. We would use the word "NO" to let the dog know something was unacceptable. If the dog is still housetraining, for example, if caught in the act, we'd pick the dog up, say NO, and place it outside (and next time it pees outside, praise it a whole bunch). If it peed in the house and we didn't catch it in the act, then we'd just have to try to avoid that happening in the future and make sure to praise it when it goes outside.

 Yes. Meadow is very highly tolerant of other dogs (even puppies — though she will eventually let them know who is boss). If a dog ignored her, she would be fine with it. She is an older dog, however, so it is important to us that a new dog is not dangerously aggressive to her.

 I love herding breeds! I have not had experience with PWC but having had a Collie/ Shepard mix he was one of the BEST dogs I have ever had! I have done some research on the PWC and I love their personality traits and think it would be a good fit!
