Who is this dog for?

 We would like to adopt a Corgi for our College Daughter that lives with us. She has wanted a corgi for as long as I can remember. We currently have 3 dogs we rescued over the last 4 yrs and our daughter would like to have her own pup.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 My 20yr old daughter has loved the breed since she was a child. It's their cute little legs, fluffy bodies and adorable faces. It's also their "big dog" personalities that match her to a T. They are extremely active and eager to learn dogs. We are an active household and want a dog that can keep up. She loves how loyal they are and yet small enough to cuddle with. We have a cattle dog currently so we are familiar with the herding breed and their need for work/jobs.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 long walks, play time in the backyard, some agility training. And lots of training for mental stimulation.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I've always loved Corgis because of their stocky bodies and energetic, confident demeanor. While I don't have experience with Corgis specifically, I fostered an Australian Cattle Dog for a year so I'm well aware of everything that comes with herding dogs.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 When I fostered my Blue Heeler, I had a lot of success (and fun) with clicker training. So I will do all kinds of obedience training as well as introducing fun new tricks and activities to keep their mind occupied. I also have a few dog parks within walking distance of my apartment and plan on being a regular at those.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		I wouldn't do anything. I don't believe that negative reinforcement benefits the dog in any way. I think it's better to focus on encouraging the behavior you would like to see instead.

 I had a lot of success with clicker training so I like to use that as it only focuses on positive reinforcement and instills trust and confidence in the dog to try new things during training. In the past I have used tools and things so that I always have food on hand as I believe that training is something that you are using to constantly bond with your dog.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 Probably in my apartment as I do not have a yard at the moment. I will crate train the pup so that they always have a space where they feel safe, but I will not restrict them to any room or single space in my apartment.

 I work from home but I have a lot of downtime for short breaks throughout the day, so I plan on using that time to stimulate the dog if they are feeling up for it. When I was fostering my blue heeler, I had a lot of success spending about an hour in the morning at the dog park to tire them out for the morning and then either doing another 30-60 minute dog park session after work so that they have ample time off leash to stretch their legs. I will also take them on a 20 minute walk during lunch time.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I’ve been a private pet sitter for a few years (usually at client’s homes, and would not welcome pups into my own if I had a dog of my own), and I took care of my co-worker’s Pembroke for an extended stay when they went on vacation. Oh my gosh, he is a beauty, and I was quickly enamored by his playfulness, intelligence, and sweet demeanor. He was so smart! He was a wonderful combination of playful and relaxed, and I feel this breed would be a great fit for our home. I was shocked because I grew up around larger dog breeds, but I knew I needed to know more about this breed, and have since dug into the world of Pembroke Welsh Corgis. Once the quarantine is over, I’m hoping to attend a show in my area.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have had a love for this breed from the first time I saw a picture of the Queen with her Corgis on a blanket in the Scottish highlands. Took me 35 years to get one but I did. I have had three rescue Pembroke Corgis. Sugar, my first for 6 years until she passed from cancer, Roger #2 for 8 years and he passed from a brain tumor, and Tater Tot for 3 years and he just passed from DM.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Lots of walks and socializing with my friends that have dogs in the neighborhood. I would also love to try agility and/ or a therapy dog for nursing homes.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		Train them into the correct behavior or action. I am not personally a fan of "clicker" training but I do very much like to use positive verbal reinforcement. I have a certified trainer that I use to assist me just to make sure my timing is correct.

Discipline:

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I grew up with one of thee most well known lobbyist in central Illinois if not all of Illinois and they always had welshes. The Kjellander's. They had Bush 2 at their house before he was president and that didn't mean much to me. However, I was their dog sitter when they had to enjoy company. That and we played competitive as well as req. soccer together and I was always the one that watched their 5 dogs. Springer Spaniels, English something or others and welshes.

 It just depends on their enthusiasm. I would walk them in my neighborhood and more than likely teach them a quite a few commands. But, other than that unless I was hunting wabbits. I wouldn't be doing much more than that. Oh, maybe Netflix and chilling. LOL.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I haven't owned a corgi, however I've had a lot of play time with this breed. I love their temperament and their intelligence. Their personalities are so fun. I used to have a border collie as a kid, another herding dog, and they were so smart and fun to train. We have done research on the breed and thing a corgi would be a great companion for us and for our dog now.

Who is this dog for?

 This will be our first dog together (me and my husband David). We absolutely love dogs and decided on a corgi, cause we would like a smaller dog with a big personality. Plus they’re so adorable. We can’t wait to add our baby to our family and we’re trying our best to rescue it instead of getting it for a breeder, but if we can’t we would be willing to go that round too if it’s a respectable one, that cares for the dogs. We would rather have our corgi be 4 yo or younger. Hopefully we’ll be able to him/her soon!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We considered many breeds, but settled on a corgi because it’s a smaller dog with a big personality. they’re normally outgoing and pretty smart, those are things we value on a dog. At the same time. We live in an apartment but it’s a spacious one and I work from home, so Ingot plenty of time to spend with him/her and bond, as well as to take it for walks/runs with me in the morning. Other than that, I’ve played with a few corgis before and they’re one of the most fun and beautiful dogs I’ve ever seen.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		I’m a calm person so i wouldn’t overreact to the mistake. I would see how I can make this a better learning experience for me and the dog. I would try and work with the dog in training more to eliminate those mistakes
