Who is this dog for?

 Myself and my older children,,17, 16. 11. I have lived in same home for 18 years, fenced in large yard to play. Had a brussel griffen that i adopted from west michigan humane society about 6 years ago but he was already 10 years old when we got her. She passed away a year n half ago. We are now looking to give a corgi a forever home.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have no experience with a corgi. We have watched many videos of corgis, people who own corgis and all about corgis. House is filled with corgi decor but real corgi lol. We had a brussel griffin that we adored but she has passed from old agr. Although we love that breed, we would like a different breed this time and a corgi is what we have been researching for a while and are excited to finally be ready to start looking for one.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 He would mostely be an inside dog, walks for potty, and enjoy outside with us on nice days.

 I tell them no and remove them from the situation. Depending on what it was. If they are getting in the trash can, i would stand infront of the trash n tell them no. Eventually they will understand when there access to what they want is blocked and they understand the word no. Until then its just repetitive training.

 In the house. My brussel griffin was always allowed anywhere in the home without restriction. Although she mostly just wanted to be wherever we were.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 My co-work has rescue Corgi and I dog sit couple times. I find that Corgi is very intelligent dogs, very loyal and good companion.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I rescued Pembroke Welsh Corgi from Indiana and he name is Chad. I would walk Chad at least 5 times a day. In the morning around 6 a.m or 6:30 a.m walking in the neigborhood for half hour then breakfast. Around 9:30 a.m, I will take a break from work which our office is 5 mins away from my townhouse and walk the dog. Also, during lunch time, then I will go home and walk the dog. Around 3 p.m which I will another break and go home and walk the dog. After work, there has natural area, no-leash dog park or big playground for the dog to run/walk for one hour. Before go to sleep around 10 p.m which walk around the neighborhood one more time. During summer time, we would go to nature area near our town house for at least one hour walk. We would go to trips during summer time, for example, Lake of cloud, Michigan Tech, Mackinac Island, Traverse city. Last year, we went to Whitefish Point, Tahquamenon Falls, Eagle Harbor Lighthouse. Chad passed away from heart condition.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have always loved Corgis, my grandma had two when I was younger. She had one who was very hyper and one who was calmer, the calm one had a seizure disorder and ultimately passed because of it. I have seen both sides of the corgis and have loved both of them. The calm pup was my baby and she would cuddle up to me and always be so happy to see me. The more energetic one once decided to jump in the tub with me while I was taking a bath, which was hilarious. Ever since I have wanted a corgi. I have not done a ton of research on corgis in a long time, but I am a graduate student and love to learn and become proficient so if I was given the gift of adopting a corgi, I would do as much research to learn how to take care of them.

 We would cuddle on the couch and play with toys. I also live right beside a park and across the street is a much bigger park, so there is plenty of space to run around and spend time outdoors.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Ever since I have been a child, I have wanted a corgi. I met one and it was very friendly, and I loved it. I have done research on the breed, and my favorite thing is that they are friendly and that they are trouble makers. I am equipped to handle that, since the other dog we owned was a dachshund and also a trouble maker.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have always been a fan of the herding group and grew up with various breeds as both family and farm dogs; Australian Cattle Dogs, Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, German Shepherds, and various crosses. Corgi's have always been a favorite with their strong, stubborn, smart, loving, and independent personalities, compacted into a smaller body, we think they'd make a great addition to our family! We are familiar with the breed, their training and health needs and believe we can offer a great home to a rescue.

 We like to bring our dogs with us whenever we can whether that's to a brewery, a family member's house, a picnic or park, or a road trip, thus we like having social pets. However, we know that that's not always the case with a rescue and oftentimes, more time, confidence-building and a bond built over time are needed prior to such outings are necessary.

 We feed our dogs on our main, kitchen level. The Saints have raised, stainless-steel dishes over a mat; the corgi's dish would be either on a mat on the floor or raised slightly depending on size.

 Likely in a crate until trustworthy with free-roam whether due to age, past circumstances, or comfortable with our current resident dogs.

 We had a Pembroke Welsh corgi and she was our family baby. We all loved her. Unfortunately she died this fall in a car accident and we were all crushed. Who is this dog for?

 We are hoping to rescue a female corgi in the ages of 4-6. In our family is a 5 year old male cogri. He would like a companion. We got Felix as a puppy.
Our family hobby in the summers are sailing on Lake Superior in the Apostles. Felix loves the beaches in the Apostles. We are hoping to have another Corgi to love too.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We want to adopt another Corgi so our Felix will have a girlfriend. We would like to have another corgi around also.

Felix needs a "Morty" since he is "Maple" – I don't think Felix is as bossy as Maple is though. My 21 year old daughter follows a couple Corgi owners on instagram.
So if you know who Morty & Maple are you will know those Corgi doggy personalities.


Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We live on a small river so we take Felix in the kayak. Full roam of the back yard and can go on both docks to watch the boaters go by. We also are buying our 3rd sailboat. A 38 footer so we will have plenty of room to bring 2 corgis sailing!

Funny note. Felix will bark like crazy at other dogs til he gets his sniff on. Once he gets his sniff on, he will walk by the same dog over and over. The marina in Bayfield, WI has a lot of dogs. He as many dog friends he knows.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		Usually our Felix does not make a mistake unless something is wrong. Like pooping in the front room. He is bell trained. So he rings the bell at the back door. If he poops in the front room. It is because we did not hear him ring the bell or something is wrong like diarrhea.
I guess i don't see how dogs make mistakes. They are dogs doing dog things. I suppose you mean like the one time Felix growled at us when he had a lucky bone (inch long bone with some marrow). We just told him no in a low voice and started putting ourselves between the lucky bones and taking it a few times on every lucky bone we gave him. But that was 4 years ago. He not grrrry on that stuff anymore.

 Felix eats in the kitchen. He gets Acana for food. He used to eat Orijen until they changed the recipe and he got the poops. He had to spend a night in the ER for that illness.
The the new Corgi, would also get Acana in the kitchen. Felix also gets part of an egg, Fage yogurt, chicken, or beef – with his dog food. Not much but a small amount. If he does not get that in his food….. we get the look.

Where would dog sleep:
 He sleeps under whoevers bed he wants at night. If a door is shut, he lets you know whose room he wants in.

Play & exercise:
 They have the full back yard to run around in. Felix fraps in the house. Felix goes on walks a couple times a week with Kent.

 Felix loves other dogs. He has been very socialized with other dogs. Just never lived with another dog. Other dogs have been at our house and those dogs take his lucky bones to chew on and he does not mind much. I think he has gotten attitude in the past but he must have got him over it. Will have to ask the hubby how.
If we were considered for a female Corgi I would want to verify how she is with other dogs. If she cant tolerate other dogs, then she is not the dog for our family.
