 Our 17 year old daughter has loved Corgis her whole life! We had the privilege of rescuing a senior Corgi in May of 2107. He was a treasure and gift to our family. We was extremely playful, fun and acitve. He was severely overweight when we got him but we got him down to a healthy weight with diet and exercise.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 For several years we've been infatuated with their stumpers and fluffy butts. All joking aside, (not really) we've wanted a corgi for quiet a while and recently bought a house with a fenced yard. We love the energy of a corgi and it helps that their gosh darn adorable. We may or may not have gone to the Arlington race track specifically to be surrounded by our derpy little friends on horses and hounds day.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We plan to social our corgi as much as possible. There is a dog park not far from us but we enjoy going to doggo friend establishments in the area. We plan on trying to take him around as much as possible, the last thing we want to do is leave the little guy alone all day.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		There's no black and white answer for this. It really depends on the mistake. You can't just scold or beat an animal to correct an action. Regardless, that shouldn't be done either. The dog needs to understand the mistake it. If you come home to a soiled carpet, smacking or yelling at the animal is only going to confuse it. If anything, it would be my mistake for not paying attention enough to the dog.

Discipline:
 It still depends on why i would be disciplining the dog. Violence is never the answer. It would only be disciplining if i caught it in the act, such as going through the trash. First priority would be to separate the dog from the trash but hitting it again will only confuse it. It's an animal, it's running on pure instinct. The dog would require training to keep the mistake from happening again, not violence or yelling.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 It would spend most of its time with us. My wife wife and I work but different shifts so it would only have to be alone for a few hours a day during the week. Weekend would be spent entirely with us.

Who is this dog for?

 We are looking to add a corgi rescue into our family. We currently have (rescued) 1 cat (age 3 y/o), and 1 dog (age 2.5 y/o). We have been interested in the corgi breed for over a year now and have been searching for a rescue that will be a good fit for our family. Our dog, Izzy, would love a dog sibling and my daughters (3 daughters: 10, 8, & 8 y/o) would love to share the love they have with another pet as well. I am on the board of the local dog park committee, so we frequent there often and are active members in our community.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 My daughter, Emma, was the one who brought this breed to our attention. She was initially drawn to how cute and fluff they are. Through our research we have found that they are smart, playful, silly, active. We have interacted with some corgis that we have met at the local farmer's market. We also love the "Great Gatsby, the Corgi" on YouTube. We have researched by reading things on the internet and watching informational videos about the breed.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We currently like to take our dog, Izzy, to the dog park, and go on walks.
We've been looking into puzzle feeder toys- so create one or train them to play with them. We have also enjoyed training our current dog. It has given her something to focus on and work towards; learning commands like sit, stay, down, shake, etc.

Discipline:
 Again, spend time training your dog upfront so they get used to expectations, and through repetition. For example, we have a routine at our house at dinner time. Instead of letting our dog walk around and around the table while we eat, we tell her to lay down in a specific spot. She has learned what we expect of her during this time.

 Spending time with the family and our other dog, inside. We do have our current dog kennel trained for night time.

 me! My daughter who has a corgi is preparting to move into her own home and I am missing Nugget just thinking about them moving. I know she will be close so I would love to have a corgi who would love and get along with her dog as I know there will be many times they will be together!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 As I stated my daughter has one and I just adore him. There is nothing like waking up in the morning to that smile! He is SO stinkin' smart . . I love taking him to herd and run the lurning course. He is soon starting agility and it is a joy to see him delighted in what he was bred to do! That silly lil' pup brings so much joy to my life, He is very loving and is very snuggly. He is a joy to take on walks becasue he is SO irresistible and EVERYONE has to stop to tell me what a cutie he is who dosn't love that?!? He is the perfect size . .not to big but so little is to be a purse dog! He also has a 'threatening' bark . .that is until you see him smiling!!

 Currently I take Nugget to run a luring course, he was recently tested for his 'herding instinct' and passed so he can now being hearding classes. I have also signed him up for agility. He LOVES to walk all through the village and through our parks . he is SUCH a social butterfly. He also likes to snuggle and relax . . .he is just the best of both worlds . . .

He pooped on the floor one morning, but I was stuck on a phone call and did not get him out on time . . .again that was MY mistake not his.

If he jumps on my friends, I ask him if he would like to go outside. So I guess my form of discipline is redirection.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I grew up with a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and he is absolutely the best dog I have had. I have had a variety of dogs who I love, but he is a special dog to me. The personality of these corgis is so loving and excited, but also each unique in their own way. Our corgi is now 13 and still just as lively as a puppy.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I love to take them on walks in parks and if they were good with other dogs (my past corgi has not been so this has not been possible) go to dog parks and have doggy playdates. In addition, if they like going for drives I love to go dog-friendly places with them as well. My past corgi and I did spend a lot of time just relaxing with one another on the couch and he liked to sit in the yard while I would do yard work so that is also a great time for activities around the house.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		I am big on verbal scolding rather than using physical disciplinary action because I have found verbal "No" or "bad dog" to be quite effective with my past dogs.

Discipline:
 ^ as said above, not a fan of physical discipline, I prefer to maintain only verbal discipline and make sure to reward good behavior more often than punish always.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 In my apartment or at doggy daycare depending on the age/level of trained the dog is at the moment.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We did a lot of research to land on this breed before adopting our puppy, Howie. We love the corgi personality, the moderate requirements for exercise and the intelligence of this breed. Our corgi has been very easy to train and his even temperament is wonderful.
