Who is this dog for?

 Ruby and my father Anthony I hope to make it Ruby's support animal. Ruby suffered a stroke in summer 2019. Ruby and Anthony had a corgirainan for many years until she crossed the rainbow bridge due to old age. We currently have a corgi, blue heeler and Jack Russell mix and we are looking for a corgi brother or sister for him. He is Anthony's dog. Ruby has loved corgis for years and has always dreamed of having one. After her stroke she feels like a corgi would be the perfect support animal.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I love the breed. I love their playful demeanor and how their little butts wiggle when they walk. Recently after becoming disabled after Ruby's stroke she found corgi videos on YouTube and they are one thing that cheer her up no matter what. Also Poppy was a corgi mix and Ted is too so our family has always had a love of corgis since finding out poppy was part corgi and taking her to attend Corgis in the Park a huge corgi event in Grand Rapids Michigan. Ruby instantly became obsessed with the breed.

 Watch tv, go on walks, go on trips in the car, possibly train to become a service animal or support animal, go to the dog park, play outside and inside, be a couch potato and just chill.

 The breed is a very playful and good company for anyone. They have big personalities. I have not had any experience owning a corgi. I’ve researched only some information.

 I want a trusted friend and a loving companion. I am a grad student potentially living alone and would love to have something to take care of and love. It brings me joy to give. I love corgis because they are quite outgoing and comfortable with people. They are affectionate, and love spending time with their owners. Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I love corgis!! I think corgis are really great breeds because they are smart, willing to be adventurous and have special personalities (even the sassy guys!). Aesthetically, I think they are so cuddly and stumpy, and I just love them! I am a small person, so a small dog is a right choice for me. I have done a lot of research on the breed because I know they can be strong-willed and I want to know how to best take care of them in the way they need to.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I like walking and hiking, so walks would be a daily activity for us. I have a few dog parks in my area, so playing fetch and socializing with other dogs is something that I think is important for a dog, as well. In addition, I live close to a doggy daycare, so I will most likely taking him/her while I am at work a few times a month. I know corgis are pretty social, so I want that to be a big part of his/her life. I also like going to dog-friendly events, so that is something that I would like to do if he/she is comfortable with groups of people. If not, I don't mind tailoring my social activities.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		It depends what the mistake is! I know with corgis you have to be calm and assertive and you need to have their respect. I have used a clicker before to refocus behavior and I have used diversion/ ignoring if he/she is doing something I would like them not to do! I never believe in yelling/hitting. It's not healthy for anyone to be treated like that!

 I have always been in love with the Corgi breed. They are so adorable and lovable. I have many friends with Corgi's and they have always had the best personalities. I love their size, and the colors they can be. They are such a special breed of pup and my heart melts every time I see one. I have done a lot of research on the breed. Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Although I have never owned a Corgi, I've owned many Labs in my lifetime. My last Lab, Gage, became immobile in his old age, and I decided that because of how difficult it was for me to lift him, I'd like something a little smaller when I get another dog. From what I've learned about Corgis, they are very family oriented, devoted dogs. That is what I'm looking for.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 My wife and I are ready to add a 4-legged friend to our family! We’ve done our research and we believe a Corgi would fit perfectly in our life. My wife is a 4th grade teacher and I work at The Boys and Girls Club at 2:00, so the dog would only be alone for 1-2 hours during the week. We both are fairly active and go on long walks every night so adding a dog to that just makes it even better. We have met other Corgis before and we love how social they are. They are not scared like other dogs, even though they’re smaller. My wife and I are very social so we plan on taking our dog whenever we can and having a dog that isn’t freaking out is a huge plus.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We plan on bringing our dog along on walks every day and the dog park that’s down the street on the weekends. We will bring it to social events when aloud to and my parents house. We also plan on doing puppy training.

After taking the dog out many times, when it does pee, I would reward the pup with a treat and praise him. This would condition the dog that peeing outside is a good thing and that that is where it should be done.
