 Our family. Mom, Dad and 2 older kids, 20 & 18.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We just lost our 12-year-old black lab mix to cancer 2 days before Christmas. We knew we would get another dog, we just didn't know when or what breed. We know we want a smaller dog this time around. I took an online quiz to see which dog breed would best fit your family and, while I don't take a ton of stock in online quizzes, it did come up with a 95% match for the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. We had already been discussing corgis a lot in our house as it's a breed we adore. I do know 2 people with corgis. One of them I've been able to be around several times and I simply adore her. We are looking for an active dog but not as active as, say, a husky. Having had 2 lab mixes, the smaller size is also appealing. While we loved our labs to pieces, we are simply at a point of wanting something smaller, more manageable with dirty paws, coming up on the furniture and traveling with. I have done research on the breed. My husband and I invested a lot of time training our last 2 dogs, which we will do with the next dog we get as well. From what I've read about corgis, they are quite smart and eager to please. We believe in reward/praise-based training so it seems like a good fit. Lastly, we really want a dog that wants to love on us as much as we want to love on him/her..which is a lot.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Daily walks, indoor play, outdoor play and nearby dog parks, one of which does have an agility course (which I understand corgis can be quite skilled at).

 It is for us- a couple in their mid twenties moving into a townhouse with enough space for a new dog. Lots of love to give

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 One of our really good friends has a corgi who we are crazy about. James lived with her and bonded with her over the course of the last year. We love how fun, social and playful they are. We have done research into the extent of exercise they need, how much food they need, as well as socialization with other dogs and children.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Pembroke Welsh Corgis are big personality dogs in a cute little body. I have always loved Corgis for their looks, I think they are adorable. However, I would never choose to adopt a dog based purely on looks. Their size is amenable to apartment living, while their breed enjoys staying active. I also know Corgis are eager to learn and keep mentally stimulated making them easy to train.

We have had some experiences with the breed in passing and have asked several different owners what their experiences have been with the breed. We also have family members with Corgis and have watched them raise the dogs.

Yes, I have done a lot of research on the breed and would be happy to do more. I want my dog to be the best version of themselves and I want to make sure I am always treating the dog the best that I can.


Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Take for walks, play sessions at the park. Occasionally take for a hike or romp in the snow during the winter.
I would also want to be able to sit around the house and watch television and cuddle on the couch. We are definitely a lot more active in the summer and in the winter due to the cold we become a bit more sedentary. A dog that is down to chill with the family is a must.

I would ensure the dog knew they were doing something wrong with a swift, calm "No" or "Off" or "Stop". If the behavior continues, I would put the dog in a time-out. If the mistake was made in the past, it would be difficult to correct the behavior as the dog would not be sure what they were being disciplined for.

 Having never owned a dog, and knowing every dog is different, I know discipline will take trial an error. However, I would never be violent towards my dog or yell at my dog in an attempt to correct behavior. Positive reinforcement will always work better than punishment, but I also wouldn't allow my dog to "get away" with naughtiness. Who is this dog for?

 For me. I am single woman looking for a lovable 4-legged companion. It has been a few years since I owned a dog and am ready again. In the past, my family and I had German Shepherds and a Bernese Mt. dog. We did live in a more rural area, conducive for a larger dog lifestyle. My children are grown and out of the house. Since then I moved into a condominium surrounded by many parks, perfect places to walk and enjoy the outside with a new companion. I do work out of the home which allows for an easier transition time when introducing a Pembroke into my life.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 The Pembroke is an absolutely beautiful dog. Their hair color options are gorgeous and the stature of the dog is magnificent. Their personality is fun and loving. Since they were a "working dog", they do enjoy activity which matches with my lifestyle. I am a very active person and enjoy the outside for a walk or jog. I did read that Corgis are cuddly dogs, perfect, and that they are intelligent dogs ! Since I now live in a condo and in the past had a large breed dog, the Corgi is the perfect fit for my love of the larger breeds (German Shepherd and Bernese Mt. dog) and the longer coat hair.

 My Fiancé and I have always loved corgi’s. They are loyal, playful, loving, and all around very solid dogs. We haven’t done a ton of research with Pembroke Welshs specifically, but you are one of the only corgi rescues that we could find. We of course wanted to adopt and not shop in order to give a wonderful home to a loving boy or girl who needs one.
