Why do you want a Pembroke?
 My neighbor has one & I just love it. I've done research on the breed & understand they like to bark & need exercise. That pertains to most of the dogs in the world. I have no experience with Corgi's but have owned working breeds my entire life. Huskies for 20 yrs, Doberman, Malamute, Schipperke, English Setter, Scottie,Mixed breed, Staffordshire terrier, German Shorthair pointer & Poodle.

 First & fore most training, training. I live in the country so no side walks to walk on but a 1/2 acre fenced back yard for a dog to run & play ball or chase chipmunks!!

 I currently have my 6th corgi. My current one is as sweet-natured a dog as it's possible to get. She likes running and playing, but mostly being with people and other dogs

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I currently own a PWC. I grew up with horses and this breed was always in the show barns. 9 years ago I was finally in a place to allow me to dedicate time and training to the breed.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		We do positive reinforcement. Corgis feed off praise and excitement. They want to please owners. First I remove the item and make it inaccessible if it is something being eaten. I also use baby gates to cordon off areas of the house they should not be in that might not be safe unsupervised.

 I've wanted a Corgi dog for almost ten years now and was able to adopt my own when I had Sunny. Before her, I used to date someone with his own Corgi and I feel as though I raised her for nearly 3 years since I groomed and trained her. They're a great breed that love to listen and play. I've spent a lot of time reading and watching videos on Corgis, but I do not claim to be an expert by any means. If it's something I could have prevented (putting socks on the floor away, keeping up with a potty schedule), then I try to do better to set them up for success.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We are interested in adopting a Pembroke Welsh Corgi because they would be the perfect addition to our family. Based on the research we've done on temperament of dogs, Corgis fun, spunky, and larger-than-their-size personalities felt like the perfect match for us. Our previous neighbor owns a Corgi who we've enjoyed playing with and watching her playful attitude to our neighbors. Yasmeen's current supervisor also owns a Corgi, who recommends the breed as well.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 The both of us want to live a more active lifestyle, especially given the amount of time we've spent at home because of the pandemic. We plan on taking our dog on frequent walks, playing in our backyard, and car rides to tag along with us when we go on our city-wide adventures. We will also play fetch, tug a war, and provide lots of fun stimulation to our dog. We plan to teach our dog to communicate with us via pre-recorded buttons (examples like eat, outside, hi). Above all else, we look forward to the cuddles, pets, and snuggles we will surely shower our dog with.

If the mistake is related to chewing or destructive tendencies, we will correct by offering our dog an alternative, safer item to chew on or play with. If the dog tries to get into things like food or clothing that might not be safe for them, then we will focus more on updating our space to be "dog-proof" We plan to be consistent in our handling of behavior related issues because consistency is key to preventing mistakes, though we will handle them with patience when they do happen.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		Varies by type of mistake. Usually starts with a firm NO. (Not screamed.) Maybe make a point of righting the thing that was knocked over, or cleaning the mess. In some cases, pick the dog up and move away.
Once the mistake is over and effects taken care of, make sure the dog gets hug or other loving.
Some things, like a dog takes carrots out of a grocery bag and eats them, you just have to let nature take its course. Don't panic.

Bruce is working from home still; that might last until 12/31 retirement.

 The current dogs eat in the dining room (not at the table). I hope relationships work smoothly that new corgi can have a food bowl in her/his own corner. If there are startup issues, we can feed corg in a cage or the kitchen with door to dining room closed.

Where would dog sleep:
 Partly the dog's preference. There is a dog bed and a folded bedspread on floor of first floor. Our previous corgies spent most nights on our bed. We will have to be careful to prevent jumping down.

Play & exercise:
 The first floor is fairly big, with a circle path. We have a few toys for fetch or carry off. We hope the active jackabee (jack russel/beagle) and the corgi will find games they like. (The chiwienie (Chihuahua /dachshund) is a couch potato.
