Who is this dog for?

 I am hoping to adopt a corgi. I live with my 22 yr old son. I also have 2 sister kitties who are 3 yrs old named Holly and Ivy. They are house kitties. I would like a walking and play in the yard dog friend. Our yard is fenced. I love to walk and my walks are usually 3 mi or a couple
Of shorter walks a day. I live about 1.5 mi from Bay View park by Lake Michigan and there is also a dog park in my area. My Vet would be St Francis Animal Hospital- Animal clinic which is also not far from my home. My dog would receive lots of love, treats, good food and regular vet and grooming visits. I have other children who are older and I have a German Shepherd and a husky “grand dogs”. I’ve also done dog sitting. Hope you consider me.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I dog sat for a Corgi for a week. I loved the dogShe would go for walks with me and also relax with me in the yard. She was also very smart and got along with my kitties reasonably well. My house and yard are smaller so this is a good size breed for me.

 I would get a pet food recommendation from the vet. Probably start off with whatever food the puppy/ dog eats currently then adjust if pet recommends. Also healthy treats – vet recommended.

 At first in their crate, likely in the spare bedroom so she feels safe. Gradually, when the dog is adjusted, she can sleep where she/he wants. I wouldn’t require the dog to be crated at night after she/he is used to their new home.

Play & exercise:
 Fetch or running around in the yard with me and/or my son. Also about 30-60 min of walking a day – would depend on how the dog does. Maybe weekly or so, depending on how the dog does, go to the dog park. Walks with my daughter and granddaughter and their dogs. Play and walk daily.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I am adopting this for my wife. She fell in love with this Breed years ago when a family friend got one. She loves their overall size and temperament. I have done some research on the Breed and don’t feel like we couldn’t accommodate. Right now we have two dogs. Gus is our Lab and Lucy is our 10 year old Beagle.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Our Corgi will enjoy being spoiled just like our other two dogs. We have a good sized back yard that is fenced in. We walk them daily and try to get them to the park as much as possible. Gus will die of exhaustion before he stops playing ball. Lucy would lay out in the sun in any season, sun or snow.

If it happens while I am out of the room…once the event happens and passes, it is done. clean up or take outside.

 We know somebody who had this breed. It"s personality is about the best you can get in a dog. It can be playful, loyal and very loving. It is usually a very intelligent dog. My wife and I have had six dogs during our 50 year marriage. We recently had a Kuvasz die. We have had large dogs and small dogs and loved them all.

 We moved from our house into a senior living apartment complex. Many of the residents have dogs and /or cats. It is beautiful and is built on 13 acres. Our apartment is 200 yards from the buildings dog park. 1 block away is miles of park land and forest preserves. My wife and I walked our dog that recently died about two miles a day.

Who is this dog for?

 Bill – he lost his corgi rescue companion earlier this year and is very much wanting to spend his time with another furry buddy for snuggling, watching birds, car rides, and conversation.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Bill recently lost his 13 year old corgi mix rescue. Her name was Annie and she was his daily companion for talking, bird watching, tv watching, and meals. She took an extra special place in his daily activities after his Wife died in December.
Annie had a cancer removed a few years ago and what appeared to be a regrowth of the tumor recently. The doctor determined she likely had internal bleeding when she arrived to them and ultimately the decision was made to have her journey with my father end. He is broken-hearted as we are for him!!
I don’t know how likely it is that a rescue or surrendered dog comes your way from another elderly caregiver, but I thought I’d reach out in case. Ideally the next dog he adopts will be housebroken, mature, and enjoy a slower pace for companionship. Annie was a good barker up until her last days and was able to alert my father if somebody was entering his property or home. She wasn’t too small and was able to maneuver with walkers and canes. This was useful! She also tolerated the queen cat of the house, Odessa.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Snuggling, talking, nature watching, feeding birds, gentle play(fetch), car rides, etc.

 My daughter had has a couple and she thinks I would like them. They seemed fun and like they would keep me busy and I'm lonely because I can't work anymore. My 2 former dogs were harding dogs and I like the breeds.
