Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I love their energy and love. They give a lot of attention and they're extremely intelligence. I also like that they're small. Our home is a 3b in the city with a fenced in yard so they would the perfect size. We are active so it's great that they also enjoy being outdoors and active.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Sit and enjoy a movie cuddling with the dog. Going on walks on the trails by our house as well as through the neighborhood daily. Going to the park and playing games with them as well as relaxing with them. Training them to do a few tricks and to go on hikes.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I'm interested in corgis because of the "big dog in a small package" part of them. I want an active dog (though maybe not border collie active) to do outdoor activities with but I don't want a very large dog. (In my house 35lbs is probably about the maximum reasonable size.) I actually enjoy the fact that they can get into trouble when bored – I'm the same way so I feel I would have a kindred spirit in a corgi.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I'd like to go hiking (which would require car rides), maybe train them to ride in a bike trailer – harnessed of course, walks, playing catch in the yard. If I find that the dog is comfortable around water maybe even kayaking with them.

With regard to formal training (below), I would first want to see if I could adequately train them myself. If not, formal training would be in order.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		I would generally use a strong voice to scold them, and would remove them from whatever they had gotten into, and keep them away for a while. If appropriate, I would slowly reintroduce them to whatever they got into and closely monitor their behavior for decreasing amounts of time to see if they would again be tempted to get into trouble.

 My Daisy was grossly overweight when I got her, so her diet was initially 1/2 the amount of kibble she would normally require, supplemented with slightly burnt green beans (she wouldn't eat them unless they were a little brown) and sometimes some sweet potato or pumpkin. As her weight came off, we gradually put in more kibble but still usually put a little something extra in (pumpkin, yogurt, etc). I fed her Nutro small-breed senior. Her vet thought that Nutro was a good food and I've also been told that by friend of the family who had in the past bred various breeds of dogs.

Where would dog sleep:
 I'm not big on having animals sleep in the bed (Daisy wouldn't climb up – even with stairs). Her bed was on the floor just to the side of mine. I expect that my next dog would sleep there as well.

Play & exercise:
 I have a yard where they can play, the neighborhood is walkable and there are trails next to the river that are only about 6 blocks away. There is a good park about three blocks away, but I'm not a fan of how people manage, or rather not, their dogs. There is a nicer dog park a few miles up the road that tends to be better behaved.

Who is this dog for?

 Our family. Our daughter especially has been interested for a long time in having a dog and we have decided it would benefit her to have that companionship. However, he/she will be a family dog and we will all love and care for him/her. I (Cindy) will take primary responsibility.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 A friend who knows our family well and has had dogs all her life recommended Corgis to us. I began researching and found that the descriptions were in line with our reasons for adopting a dog, especially companionship (we are home during the day and one of our main reasons for adopting a dog is companionship, especially for our daughter).

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We would snuggle as often as the dog wants, go for walks multiple times a day using different routes, play fetch, tug (with proper training), occasional hikes, possibly jogging. We are also open to learning activities that are especially good for Pembrokes (some I've read about are playing with a herding ball, a flirt pole, and various tracking games/activities). We also would like to take our dog to visit our elderly friends if that ends up to be a fit.

 We have a 1.5 acre lot. Clockwise around the house: the front yard has a few trees and flowerbed. The side yard has the septic and propane tank. The back yard has a medium-size shed where we store the lawn mower, etc. Next to the shed is our chicken coop. There is an existing dog kennel attached to the shed which we would use only when necessary for keeping our dog safe outside. There are also a couple of raised bed gardens, grapevine, and more trees.  We have had 3 corgis and a corgi/sheltie mix. We just lost our last one to DM at age 15. We got him at 10 weeks old. The other 2 were rescues that we had for the rest of their lives, one to DM and one to cancer. They were 14 and 15 years old. The mix was a stray that found us and lived to age 17. We are very familiar with those wonderful corgi traits. You cannot beat the personality! They ruled our house for many years and we miss them terribly.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I love corgi in general because I feel like their energy is just so pure. I’ve played with corgi before and I instantly fell in love with them. I have done research on this breed, I am also open to learn more about them in order to give them all the loves they need.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 stay at home chilling, going out to exercise since my house is super close to a park, we can also play in the backyard, have dog meetups, etc.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Corgi's have great personalities. The two we had in the past were completely different. One was highly intelligent easy to train, but stubborn at times. Our female was affectionate and playful and walked our house every night to make sure everything was all right before lying down to sleep. The other was very affectionate and loved just being with us. He was curious and a couple of times took off to explore.

Training is a process and takes times. For some dogs it may be a daily reminder.
