Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have always loved the breed, and the more I learned about their habits and personality, the more they seem like a good for for us. I have researched their possible health concerns, their personality tendencies, and their activity level. I have learned that corgis are vocal, energetic, sometimes sassy or bossy, and love attention. We are huge dog lovers and would cater to the dogs needs as much as possible.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We love going on walks around town or through the park. We love to travel locally around Michigan and would love a dog who enjoys going on hiking and camping trips. A close family friend owns a dog day care and training center near us, we could attend classes or bring the dog there for some fun social time.

 I have honestly always wanted a corgi. While i have personally never owned one i do have friends that have had them. My mom is a groomer and has given me lots of knowledge about the breed. I'm always researching breeds of dogs.

Who is this dog for?

 We would love to have a Pembroke join my small “family” to join me, my partner and our adopted pet, Minnie. Minnie is adopted and originally from Texas and this is her first year in Minnesota. Minnie and I are very active and we (especially Minnie) love to play and go on adventures.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Minnie is about 38-40 lbs and loves to play, especially with other dogs. She loves to interact with others. Of the times She’s interacted with other dogs, the corgis that we’ve meet have meet her have played so well with her. I think some of the pembroke personalities keep her in check which I think is needed for Minnie sometimes when she’s too excited. In addition, I’m so surprised at how well they’ve hold their own at dog parks and with dogs who are bigger then they are in size!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I’d love to go on daily walks and go hiking when weather permits. We currently do some light jogging and welcome any pembrokes that enjoy jogging. I have a fenced backyard and would get free reign of the yard under supervision. I’d love to train and teach them new tricks. I’d love to do some specialized trainings such as scent or rally-o.
I currently work from home and love that I can train, cuddle and bond with my dog and any future Pembroke’s/ dogs to join our team.

I would encourage them to correct themselves – for example not jumping on people when excited, accidentally knocking something off, etc.

 I do not have any swimming pools or bodies of water. My yard is enclosed by fencing. I have a few bushes and a tree that help with landscaping and shade. For the most part it’s pretty open and bare for lots of space for dogs to play.

 They are cute, devoted, playful, good company, will let you know if someone is around. Ive never owned a corgi. My friend had a corgi and whenever I visited which was frequently, that corge was very devoted to my friend. I would bring Mitzie, my sheltie and we would play in the yard with balls and hoops for the dogs and they ran all over and played. We took them on walks together, the corgi got along well with Mitzie and liked me alot too. She was very personable.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I've know that I want a dog in my life for quite some time now, having grown up with a dog at home. But I would love to adopt a Pembroke Welsh Corgi specifically because I love their personalities and energy. From the interactions I've had with corgis, I have found them to be playful, chatty, bold, and energetic. I feel that a dog with such a personality would align perfectly with who I am as a person and my lifestyle (I love to go for walks outside and be on the move). My experience with the breed has been meeting corgis in/around my home and on walks. I have done my research on the breed; I have been looking into adopting a Pembroke for about 6 months now.

If they are biting me or someone else, I would let out a short yelp followed by ignoring them for a short period to show that biting is not okay.  My building has a (fenced in) outdoor dog area, and I am two blocks from a park. I would take my corgi out multiple times a day to go to the bathroom in the dog area of my building and at least 2x a day for longer walks (morning and late afternoon/evening). He/she will get to play with other dogs at the dog area and at parks regularly, and he/she will get plenty of exercise through the longer walks multiple times a day.

 My son absolutely loves them, there is one in our neighborhood and he stops to visit him whenever he see him and his owner. I has a long hair Chihuahua for 14 years and loved the longer hair. They are very cute and like the height and weight. I don't like big dongs

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		Address the issue as they happen. Corrections can only happen when the dog fully understands. Don't stop or give up. I would only address with verbal correction and and limited leash/collar corrections – only when needed in specific situations. Proper training is very key.
