Who is this dog for?

This corgi would be for me and my fiancee. We've been looking to get a corgi for awhile now and would love to re-home one if possible. Thank you!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We have been looking to have a new member to our family for a long time now. A Pembroke Welsh Corgi has been our obsession for years. We know a few people who have this same breed and we love that these dogs are happy, affectionate, and full of energy! We also live in the city and would like a smaller dog. Our neighborhood has many corgis around and there is lots of green around us. We know that this breed needs lots of exercise and play and feel that between the two of us we can provide this and are excited about lots of outings.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Lots of walks around the neighborhood, along the lakeshore path and parks. Hoping to get some mild level hikes in. Hoping to also socialize our doggo to other friends dogs and have play dates. As well as get some time playing with our niece and nephew!

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
We would try first to redirect the behavior to something positive or neutral. If that doesn't work we would try to remove the stimulus that caused the mistake or poor behavior.

Discipline:
Positive reinforcement, obedience training for trainer and doggo.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Time will be split between our apartment and outside for long walks and activities.

Who is this dog for?

Both of us, we are engaged and will be married in June 2022.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We have done a lot of research on Corgis and believe they are a perfect breed for us. We are looking for a dog that is playful and loving, that enjoys walks and hikes but is also happy to snuggle. We love that Corgis have a lot of personality! I grew up with Basset Hounds and I believe Corgis are quite similar but have more energy, which is exactly what we're looking for. We both work from home so we are able to give our Corgi 100% love and attention.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We are a pretty active couple and love going on walks and hikes. We live very close to Lake Michigan and we frequent the lakefront trail quite often. Our house also has a fenced in yard where our Corgi could run around and play. We live in a neighborhood in Milwaukee that is very dog friendly and has awesome dog parks, so we're hoping for a Corgi that is good with other dogs and people.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Speak firmly with the dog so they know they've done something wrong, but always use positive reinforcement when they do something right. I believe positive reinforcement is more affective in learning.

Discipline:
From my experience with dogs growing up, speaking firmly does wonders for discipline and I find that not much else is needed. Positive reinforcement and consistent training will result in a disciplined dog. The most important thing is taking the time to train the dog, and since we work from home we will have all of the time needed.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
In our home, spending time with us!

Who is this dog for?

Our family! Alec and I have been looking for a sibling for our current fur child, Moses, a yellow lab/Great Pyrenees. We want him to be able to have a lifelong friend because being the only dog in the house must be tough and think he would benefit from a friend.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
Alec has grown up with corgis all his life. We love that they herd and run around in circles all the time. The docile personalities, how affectionate they are, and how incredibly curious they are around people

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We would take our potential fur baby to go see everything-the Smokey mountains (which we have recently begun to frequent), national parks, regular walks and everything in between. Trips to Starbucks for coffee and pup cups, swimming in creeks in Arkansas where our extended family reside…oh we have big plans to see everything in this world

Who is this dog for?

A young couple who wants to give a dog in need their forever home. We currently have two African Grey Parrots whom we adore and have more love to give. We both had dogs and other pets growing up and know the love, respect, and patience needed when working with any animal and are willing to give this dog all our love.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We have both loved the breed for many years and have always wanted one. This breed is very intelligent and easy-going and gets along with most people and other animals. We have purchased a few books on the breed and are doing our research.

We have learned that this breed sheds quite a bit, but that is ok with us since we run the vacuum every other day due to our parrots making messes in and outside their cages.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
On a daily basis we would take our Pembroke for walks during the day, play with him, train him and relax on the couch in the evenings. We would also like to be able to take this dog on car rides to outdoor parks for walks/hikes. Would also enjoy a dog who likes to play fetch and other games. We have also done some research regarding interactive and mentally stimulating activities to prevent the dog from getting bored.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
We already have a parrot who likes to be out of her cage and fly around the apartment. In order to make sure that she doesn't cause too much trouble we keep the apartment clean and organized at all times. Removing possible problem things (like computer cords or tv remotes) from the dog's reach will help alleviate some potential issues. We will also plan to use positive reinforcement and professional dog training classes to help us learn best how to handle mistakes that may happen. We will set boundaries with the dog, such as the dog sitting in his bed (or a different room) when we are eating dinner to prevent the dog from learning begging and food aggressive behaviors.

Discipline:
We will practice using positive reinforcement and have established boundaries and words. If the dog plays too rough and is learning boundaries we will have words and phrases that we will teach to train the dog to stop. We will practice redirecting any bad behavior that we want corrected. We will both be consistent in said behavior and correction timing.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Our Pembroke would spend most of the time in our apartment including the living room, kitchen, and the bedroom. We live on the first floor, so it is very easy to get outside and out for a walk whenever needed. If we are not home, we will put the dog in a crate or pen.

House dog

People at home during the day?
Yes. We both work from home.

Where would dog eat?
Our adopted corgi would eat in the kitchen from an elevated dog bowl to ease with digestion. We also plan to purchase a slow-feeder dog bowl if needed.

Where would dog sleep:
The dog would either sleep in a dog bed or will sleep in the crate, if crate trained.

We will allow the dog on the couch and also get him his own dog beds.

Play & exercise:
We both have time in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings to take the dog for a walk and play with him. Additionally, there are multiple dog parks (such as the Spring Avenue dog park and the East Branch Off-Lease dog park) nearby (just a quick 5-10 minute drive). We also live near the Great Western trail, which goes a few miles in each direction. There are also a few nature preserves in the area to visit. We can easily switch up all the locations to take the dog too so he doesn't get bored of the same trails or areas.

Who is this dog for?

Me

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I have always wanted a dog and came from a household that didn’t want one. I love them so much and I think corgi is perfect for my daily life. I’m a super energetic person and I would love a very bubbly, caring, intellectual dog by my side. Any opportunity for me to take care of a dog I’ll do and put my whole heart in it. I know that they are incredible with kids and that they are just so sweet to everyone around them. I know they do experience some health issues if not properly cared for, especially back issues.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Walks and constantly petting. I am going to be moving to texas a couple of months after so I can go hiking with him. Go to dog parks. And even take him to travel anywhere I would go. He’d be my best friend

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
I would be calm. I wouldn’t want him to freak out or create a negative relationship with me. So I would tell him that task was not good. Maybe take away toys for a while. But teach him about the right way to do it and give treats to reinforce

Discipline:
I think time outs are nice. Put him in the kennel for a bit and then not too long later let him out. I would just not give him attention as well for him to know that this behavior is not going to give him play time with me

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
He would spend it in my apartment. I am going to be getting a big place when I leave for texas. And I will be at my family home during his early months. My boyfriend is going to be living with me and has a different schedule than me so he’s going to have someone with him usually

Who is this dog for?

companionship and family pet.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I prefer the breed. I have grown up with both German Shepherds and corgis. I enjoy the spunk yet activity level of the corgi and think it best suits my lifestyle. I work from home and am outdoors either walking or gardening. My corgis all enjoy playing in backyard and off to park for a daily adventure. Corgis can be a challenge if not socialized and exercised. I do this on a daily basis if possible.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Walking, playing in park. I am a very devoted dog owner. I live in a quiet area southwest of the twin cities and within walking distance of a marvelous park and creek system. I own a pet burley and also take my dog with on trips if they like it. I work from home so my dog benefits of frequent access to backyard and daily walks in park.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
determine the cause. I often find that I have done something wrong and put the dog in a situation where it made a mistake. Redirect the issue if possible or remove the trigger which caused the issue.

Discipline:
I remove the dog from the area where the act occurred. I also read the dog's body language and try to diffuse the situation before it occurs.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
I work from home so the dog will be at home with me. Dog has access to his or her kennel and able to roam the house. I also let the dogs and myself out during the day for breaks.
