Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We were interested in the breed before due to its size and temperament. We ended up rescuing a border collie. We enjoyed having such an intelligent, loyal and friendly dog. She passed away at 13 years old on Easter of 2020. We have heard and seen that the corgi has similar traits and would be a good fit for our family.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We would play in our yard and potentially a dog park. We also live near many trails and parks for walking. We have two adult sons and two teenage sons that enjoy either jogging or walking often. We also travel in the summer and would like to take our dog with us as we did with our border collie.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have done lots of research on Corgis and currently have a Corgi mix. The corgi’s size is ideal for our living situation. We are looking for a more active dog who fits in with our lifestyle and speed. Corgis are usually good with children, so this would be ideal as we have younger nieces who adore dogs. We know that Corgis can be mischievous, but love dogs that have an active mind and personality (we have lots of puzzle games and enjoy playing very much!). We are dedicated to training on an ongoing basis, so the corgi is ideal.

We will correct the act if the dog is in the middle of the misbehavior. We will continue to provide ongoing training to address the mistake, to ensure it does not become a habit.

 For our family! Scott and I have two young boys, Noah and Zeke, and Zuzu, our golden doodle!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Our family is a young, very active family, and we are looking for an active, happy dog to join! We have always had a sweet spot for Corgis. We find their personalities to be sweet and unique, and we have experience with smart and independent dogs, and we feel a Corgi would be a perfect leader for our current dog, Zuzu! We have done our research and know what comes with them, and we feel as though a Corgi would match very well with our family.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We would work on training every day, as we do with our current dog! We are also almost always outside, as weather permits, so the Corgi would spend lots of time running around the yard with us. We have many lacrosse balls and flying squirrel toys we would throw in the yard with the dogs, and we have toys inside that we throw and would have plenty of toys for chewing and independent play. We also go on walks daily, if the weather isn't too bad, and the Corgi would come along for walks with us!

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		We would work on a lot of positive reinforcement and redirection. For instance, in the case we would find that the Corgi is chewing on a toy they should not have, we would tell them to drop it, and no. When they did, many praises, a treat, and a toy that is appropriate for the Corgi. And we would do official obedience training, once available, and for the time being, due to COVID, we would do training at home!

 We really are very big on positive reinforcement and proper training. Having a very intelligent Goldendoodle, we from the start have worked hard on positive reinforcement (treats, lots of praise and pets) since day one. When a dog starts acting out, it usually means they aren't getting enough attention or exercise (similar to toddlers), and no one responds well to yelling. So we talk in a firm voice when saying no, but celebrate when the dog makes a good decision or listens to a command, and we would do that same thing with a Corgi.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 Most of the time, the Corgi would be with us downstairs! We stay home about 95% of the time, outside of appointments and grocery trips, so the Corgi would only be in a crate during short trips. If we were to leave for an extended amount of time, once things are in a more trustworthy spot, we would have my sister stay at our house with the dogs and they would get lots of love and roaming!

 The Corgi would sleep upstairs in a crate in our bedroom, until housebroken and comfortable. We would transition then to a dog bed in our room!

 The Corgi would get lots of opportunities. We go on daily walks, and if the weather is not permitting of a walk, we would run him back and forth in the foyer with toys! We are constantly on the move, so the Corgi would be too! We also do training exercises and, when weather permitting, play outside throwing lacrosse balls and flying squirrels!

 We do have an Invisible Fence. We do not let our dog outside unsupervised at night, and she does not go out for long, just for potty. We live right across from a hospital, so our yard is almost always lit up and so we do not get anything more than bunnies in our yard (and squirrels of course). We would do the training as soon as the Corgi came into our care, and that is a three week process. During those weeks, we would tether the Corgi and stay outside to ensure safety. We are going to be getting a real fence, unfortunately with the pandemic wood was hard to come by and our HOA requires wood or invisible.

 Yes! Our children have grown up exposed to dogs as little as Chihuahuas and French Bulldogs, to Golden Retrievers and Goldendoodles and many more. They are very gentle and listen and know when a dog wants time alone. We would absolutely ensure the Corgi had space when he or she needed, and that playtime was supervised and always wanted on both sides.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I am somewhat educated on Corgi's. A good friend of mine has one, a female. I'd like a companion for my lab. She loves all dogs, was raised with 10 dogs, and is very sweet. I've always loved the breed!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I want good listening, respect, and enjoyment. I would enlist a trainer as I did for my girl. The trainer came to the house for 6 weeks. Practice, practice, practice! Throwing the ball, walking, resting on the deck, enjoying the sun, and each playing with each other! This would be my 4th rescue of dogs. My original lab lived until she was 14 years old! I would love her to death!!!
