 My family and I have been into showing horses for years. The Corgi is a well known breed amongst horse lovers. They are a herding breed and great family companions. We currently have one horse and no house pets. We are looking to expand our family.

Who is this dog for?

 This Pembroke is for our family of three, we have a 17-year-old as well.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We love the breed. The size of Pembrokes is perfect for our home. We love dogs that are both chill and cuddly but can also go for long walks and be active. We also love how lovable and trainable corgis are. We have not owned a corgi before but we have owned dachshunds so we are familiar with their back problems and their similar lifestyles.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Definitely walks daily. When it is warmer we would love to take him or her to the beach. Other than that most of our time will be spent playing inside or in the backyard and of course taking naps and cuddling.

 We would take time to train the dog but we really believe in positive reinforcement. We will focus on consistency when rewarding the dog for the good things they do. If we catch them in the act of doing something such as chewing on a shoe we will say a quick but stern no and take it out of their mouth but we will replace it with a toy and then proceed to pet them and telling them that a toy is a better option.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 Currently, everyone is home so they would have a full range of the house. If we leave all doors to the bathrooms and bedrooms would be closed so they would have access to the main area of the house, the kitchen, dining room, and living room.

 She or he would sleep in either the dining room in their crate, on their bed, or if they wanted to sleep with our daughter in her bedroom that would also be an option. Our previous dogs preferred sleeping in the dining room, one in her crate, and one next to the crate on his bed. Either of those options is okay with us however for those first few nights we will probably have them in a crate at night.

Play & exercise:
 One of us will take the corgi on daily walks. We will probably walk them once or twice a day but always once. We do have a fenced backyard so the corgi will be able to have a private space to play if she or he becomes energetic in the middle of the day while we are at work or school or if they just need to use the bathroom quickly. There are many opportunities throughout the day for indoor playing time and lots of time at night.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We love Pembroke Welsh Corgis because they are so friendly and whenever we encounter one it fills our hearts with joy. Furthermore, we think that a Pembroke Welsh Corgi would be a great fit for our furry family and our lifestyle. Our current dog, Edward, is very friendly and high energy. We think that he would benefit from having a canine companion who is clever and quick enough to keep up with Edward and make friends for life. In addition to being clever we think that a Pembroke Welsh Corgi will get along well with Edward because it will be somewhat smaller than Edward and he gets along well with dogs who are smaller than he is. We have had interactions with Pembroke Welsh Corgis before and we know that they are highly intelligent, high energy dogs.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We have a large back yard where our new Pembroke Welsh Corgi can play and we work from most of the time so we will have plenty of opportunities to ensure our new Pembroke Welsh Corgi get it all the activity and attention that it needs. Our new Corgi will have our dog Edward, to play with as well as walks around the neighborhood pond, fetch in our yard, and toys. We have been considering adopting a Corgi for several years and we are ready to take that step.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		Observe what the conditions were that caused the Pembroke to make the mistake and take steps to prevent that mistake from happening again in the future. For instance, if the Pembroke are she food that they were not supposed to eat then I would do better to keep my food put away, if they destroyed something I would prevent them from having access to things I don't want them to destroy, and if it was something I could not prevent by removing something or changing the Pembroke's environment I would try to determine how I could direct the Pembroke's attention elsewhere.

If the Pembroke has an accident in the house I will be proactive about making sure the Pembroke gets out on a greatest basis and I will use treats to enforce potty training.

After that I pay attention to my dog's behavior and I anticipate when I will need to stop them from doing something. I will also train behaviors fur certain routines like meal time and saying goodbye. When we are going to sit down to dinner we have Edward stay back until we release him with a treat and when we are going to leave for an errand we have Edward sit a distance from the door and we give him a treat before we go. These routines hello our dog know what is happening and we will definitely use these routines with out meet Pembroke.

 Myself and my son (9 years old). We have one cat (4 year old Korat). I am currently renting, but I am in the process of buying this house.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 My son was always very small and skittish for his age. He didn't like dogs for a long time because family members' dogs are large (German Shepherd, Lab) and he was intimidated by their size and energy level. When he was about 4 I dog-sat a corgi. It was the first dog he loved. He chased the corgi and the corgi chased him. That corgi made him open up to other dogs because it showed him that they are gentle and fun. Ever since then, we have had more good experiences with corgis and I always felt it would be the first dog I'd like to get when we were settled.

 There are several great dog parks in Sheboygan and Manitowoc we've visited with friends. I would definitely take our dog to local parks, camping, and for daily walks.

 My name is Katie, I have been trying to adopt a dog for months. I have always been a dog person, and I believe that a Corgi best fits my personality. I have fostered dogs through PAWS, and realized that I need a smaller dog like a Corgi. They make great companions, and I am home enough to spend quality time that would make beneficial for the dog and myself.
