 I've loved this breed since i was young. Their playful, happy, friendly, and strong personality is exactly what I look for in a companion. I spent a lot of time watching after a friend's pembroke welsh corgi and was absolutely in love with him. I've done extensive research on the breed and have accommodations for their high energy spirits

Other mistakes get strong verbal 'bad girl/boy', and only when necessary a spray from water spray bottle. If it's behaviour we cannot handle, we will visit trainer

We like to go to state parks and our current dog and corgi come with us! and tethered to a 30ft ground lead in the back yard (supervised). Additionally, we typically spend 30m to 1h playing inside with toys with our current pup and corgi would obviously be included in this!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 My first dog just passed – she was a mix and had some corgi in her. I love their size (perfect size in my opinion not too tiny and not too large). I like that they are smart dogs and appear to have tons of personality. My mix sure did.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Everything – daily walks, sometimes short sometimes long. I'll bring her with me on errands and to dog-friendly patios. I always schedule patio outings with friends even before Covid so that I could bring my dog. Socially distant friend visits. When my dog was too ill to walk more than 2 blocked I brought her along with me on longer walks in a cart.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have always loved the herding breeds hence the collie ownership. There are two corgis that live here in my building and have spoken with their owners at length. The dogs have adapted well to apartment life. I love how they look, love their keen intelligence, love that they are smaller and yet still sturdy and heavily built. I like grooming and brushing my pet and I am used to the double coat of a collie. I love their big ears. I am a hugger and like a dog who likes lots of talking and interaction.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I would like to take my dog along on my daily fitness walks so that we both keep in shape. I have attended agility trials in Fargo here and am looking to find a friend to learn agility with me. The dogs seem to have so much fun and the owner too.
Twice a month I drive up to Canada (4 hours away) to my farm property. My husband and the collie Tess live there. I am working in Fargo for a great hospital with higher pay and more advancement so we are paying off our beloved farm. If they meet and get along, I will bring my corgi friend too. Tess loves other dogs a lot generally. She is also good with the barn cats and chickens. A gentle spirit.

Over reacting or yelling can cause loss of respect, loss of trust with the dog for you so we do not use that in our family.

 I have recently found the AKC Star Puppy book at our library and it has some great techniques. To discipline our dog we use a firm NO and then seek to correct. For instance frantic barking at the cows in the pasture gets a No and brought inside straight away. Jumping up when she was little we would say No and put her back into standing position. Making sure the fun stops when wrong behavior happens and praise when good behavior happens can be useful.

 Myself. I work 12 hour Nights every weekend. I plan to get the corgi accustomed to this routine which he will likely associate with putting my uniform on. I have a trusted friend who has recommended a local doggy daycare that may be needed for weekends if the dog is not adjusting. I would not kennel the dog for 12 hours so it would be in a closed off area with its kennel open to reduce the amount of access to mischief.

Where would dog eat?
 The apartment has a large kitchen where there is a perfect nook to place the food and water bowl set up. I probably would schedule feeding times and not free feed randomly because dogs like a schedule.

Where would dog sleep:
 The dog can sleep on the dog bed that I currently have. I find that crating the dog in the kennel is very useful for an excited young dog to promote sleep. If it is an older dog I will kennel train it but likely gauge if it is a positive little fortress or viewed as a negative by my new corgi.

Play & exercise:
 Exercise will be structured fitness walks twice a day as this is my current fitness routine. There is a nearby park with a long bike path circuit where people walk solo or with their dogs and I love that it is never busy. There is also a nearby fenced in dog park where I would like to bring a ball and play with the corgi to build friendship. It is separated by large and small breed to promote dog safety.
If my dog's vet says he/she is in good enough shape I would like to sign up for agility just for fun.

 Tess does visit a few times per year. We will introduce her to the Pembroke and if for some reason they did not get along we would not bring Tess to Fargo to visit. I would introduce them to one another at the farm so that we would not have two dogs squaring off in a little apartment the first time meeting. When Tess visits she gets very excited on our walks if another dog comes along and wags her tail. She is quite gentle and stays still if it is a little excitable breed and just lowers her nose toward them to sniff noses.

 Our family, which is me, my husband, and our two kids who are 8 (boy) and 5 (girl)

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Our family has been interested in Pembroke Welshe Corgis for some time. We love their fluffs, and their expressive personalities. I have loved corgis for the longest, and have spread the love to my husband and children. We are in a place now that the kids are old enough to seek out a dog that we can love and care for. My daughter, who is on the shorter end of the spectrum, also really likes corgis because they are short and not overwhelming like some of the big dogs. The personalities of my children who are kind, loving but also adventurous seems like it would fit the personality of the corgi well.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We love taking walks, and playing in our fenced yard. We would also like throwing a ball and stick, watching movies, watching the famous corgi zoomies, giving our corgi snuggles and pets, and being general buddies.

Who is this dog for?

 Both of us. We are a young couple looking to adopt a corgi into our family.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I (Andrew) grew up with a wonderful red and white Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Chibi. Chibi had an amazing personality. He was very friendly, playful, and intelligent. I really enjoyed being a part of the corgi community (in CT). We had a number of close relationships with other corgi owners and would bring the dogs together for playdates often. In my experience, corgis are an excellent dog breed and I'm hoping to provide a home to one in need now that I am living on my own.

 We understand that daily exercise is very important for a corgi's health. We are planning multiple medium length walks per day. We would also occasionally go to the dog park or on hikes to provide additional exercise and socialization. We also understand that dogs need mental stimulation, so we plan to play games such as fetch, hide and seek, and chase (previous corgi loved to herd us around the house).
