Who is this dog for?

This Pembroke is for me and my fiancé.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
Pembroke’s have always caught my eye. They are my favorite breed of dog. I love everything from their size and colors, to their temperament and background as originally cattle dog. Every corgi I have met have always been so pleasant and well trained when worked with. I think that is one of the reasons I am drawn to that breed. They can be independent yet loving and sociable and that’s such a great quality about them. I have done plenty of research for a couple of years now about corgis.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
My fiancé and I are quite active. We like to hike trails at state parks and would love a furry companion to bring along. We also have a park near by and would go on many walks. I also would love to spend time getting to know my dog and training with them or even just having fun playing with toys. My dog would never be short on love and they would receive plenty of attention.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
A mistake could happen at any time and there could be many reasons for it. I would try to figure out why the mistake may have happened. Redirect the dog. Help teach the dog that the behavior is not acceptable by using certain words. Treats could also help with positive reinforcement when they stop the behavior or mistake.

Discipline:
I would never use physical discipline on a dog. I would use a command word to stop the behavior. If it was for attention then I would ignore bad behavior. I would reward good behavior. I would also redirect my dog to stop the behavior.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
My Pembroke would spend most of their time in my home and have daily walks outside.

Who is this dog for?

My family of four, which consists of my wife, Maggie, who is also an attorney, and my two girls, Hazel and Izzie, who will be 3 and 5 this fall.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
As an only child, I really wanted a dog. I had to argue for seven years to get a dog, progressing from the offer of cat, to a Bichon, when I really wanted a Bernese. This was back in 1993, when I was in fifth grade. No one knew what a Bernese was back then, nor a Corgi. So I researched what small dogs act big, and found the corgi. I was so into my research that I could list more than 130 breeds of dogs off the top of my head. Toby was my dog brother and I had responsibility for training him as a puppy. I kept this job until I left for college and he became my mom's best friend at that time. He lived til almost 13 and died when I was in law school. I love their intelligence and how curious they are, and how they feel like owning a big herder in a small body. My dog was cuddly, but independent and that works great for me!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Walks on our long dead end street, hikes in our woods and the many nature preserves in our area in Northern Michigan. Playing fetch, teaching the dog tricks. Grooming too

House dog

People at home during the day?
I would say "house dog" but when we are home, we are outside as much as possible. We are working parents and as of now, our kids are in daycare (who knows with covid, right?). I can come home for lunch (10 min to work) most days to hang with the pup.

Where would dog eat?
In the dining room, next to the kitchen

Where would dog sleep:
We liked using a dog bed for my dog, who liked being in the hallway between everyone's rooms (classic herder). I prefer a dog bed to the dog sleeping in people beds

Play & exercise:
twice a day for sure, some 3rd lunch visits as I mentioned.

Our Sheltie passed away earlier this month and he would have been 13 on 8/31. I swore I would not get another dog because I don't want to suffer this hurt ever again, but my heart feels incomplete. Bucky can't be replaced so I was looking for a different breed and my son thinks I would love a Corgi. He is about to start college at MSOE this fall so he will only be here occasionally. One of his good friends has a Corgi and he says it is his favorite dog other than our dog Bucky.

Who is this dog for?

For me!! My heart feels a void from losing our dog we raised since 6 weeks old and I am ready to love and care for another furry family member!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I have researched them. My son loves his friend's Corgi. I think they are adorable and I would love to snuggle with one 🙂 I love intelligent dogs and I am accustomed to a herder so I am respectful of that, not annoyed like some people are. I love the ones that look tan and white the most (probably because my Bucky was white with tan, not the normal tri-color Sheltie most people are familiar with) but I am of course open to any color!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
He or she would be part of the family and I would want him or her around whenever possible. If we are outside having a barbecue with friends or family, they will be there. We take them on vacation to pet-friendly hotels and resorts. We take them on walks and to parks where it is allowed. I would NEVER leave a dog in a car though, I leave them at home to grocery shop and run errands unless the weather is perfect and I have somebody with me who will be with them in the car.

People at home during the day?
Not all the time. I have read that Corgis are OK with being alone during some workdays. Our dog Bucky was always happy to see us when we got home but never showed signs of distress if all of us were gone. My husband works 7:30 – 3:30 and is off all summer and has lots of days off. I work remotely often, have 5 weeks vacation and when I do go to the office I go in after 9 or 9:30 am and come home later so the day shouldn't be too long for the dog.

Where would dog eat?
in our kitchen

Where would dog sleep:
Wherever he or she feels most comfortable. Our sheltie had a bed but as he got older he liked to roam around and sleep at the foot of everyone's bed or in the hall if the doors were shut. He had his gallbladder removed due to liver/gallbladder disease almost 5 years ago and ever since that illness could not get up on a bed or couch.

Play & exercise:
We loved to offer toys and play "fetch" and "tug of war" with our dog. I loved watching him enjoy his rawhide toys and bones. The first person up (usually my husband) took him out in the morning, I would walk him before leaving for work, and when the first person came home and again later, than right before bed. Some were short walks just to do his business, some are longer walks for exercise until he was much older and couldn't walk far without getting tired.

Who is this dog for?

My family. We have 5 year old twins and a cat. I have my heart set on a corgi.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
Personally, I have never owned a Corgi. I have always loved their adorable faces and ears…and of course those corgi butts!! I have done my research and think this is the right dog for my family and me.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We camp all Summer long, so the Corgi would be spending a lot of time at the lake. (Also around a few other dogs). We do go to relatives houses, so it would join us there as well.

A stern "No" and show them what I would like them to do. For instance if they were chewing on something they shouldn't, give them something they should chew on.

Discipline:
I'm not one to spank a dog, a good stern NO should do the trick.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
During g the week, it would be either in its kennel or out (depending on behavior) while we are at work. On weekends or days off, it would be running about the house or outside with us.

Who is this dog for?

After years of wanting a Pembroke I think now is the perfect time to add an addition to my family. I moved from Virginia to Chicago all by myself at the age of 17 back in 2015. After establishing myself and my life in a new city I am stable enough to finally being one in!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
My brother, best friend, sister-in-law, and I have all bonded over corgis for years! We’re crazy and always send each other one of the 10’s of corgis that we follow on Instagram! I love the big fluffy booties and how sassy some can be!! I have dog sit for a corgi in the past, and one of my friends just adopted one and named it Stewie. I’ve considered a corgi for about 3 years and I’ve done a lot of research. I know what the require, exercise level, how much food, and I’ve already started to buy some toys/a bed! I’m very excited.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
I live in Lincoln Park and I’m in walking distance of over 10 parks. I’m also close to the Zoo and Lake! I am always doing a lot of outside activists and I plan on walking all around like a typical day, just with a cute doggo by my side!

Who is this dog for?

Lyle and I.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I had a Welsh Pembroke about three years ago. She was about two when I rescued her and she was our little girl until she passed (2002-2017). She went everywhere we went even Rushmore and Yellowstone. She would say "I love you.", carried her leash in her mouth on walks, fetched "Dad" if I needed him. She swiped tools and put them back in the shed. She was flower girl at our wedding. She was a gem. I love the breed, the size, the personality and how spunky and totally involved they are. It took me fifty years to be blessed with my first Corgi and now I can't imagine having any other breed.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
Throw a ball or play tug with it. Lyle is outside much of the time during the day so she would have free range of our fenced yard. Our grand kids are age four to aged thirty so she'll have plenty of people to run with. We always bring g our pets in at night because of the coy dogs and coyotes we have in our area. They have their own beds.

Who is this dog for?

Both of us (we are a couple)

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We have 2 cats, and from what research i have done, the 2 species get along well, our cats dont really seem to care about dogs, their attitude more "aloof" but have also not had a ton of exposure to dogs as well. So we want a dog that can co-exist with our cats, that is also very cuddly, that can not feel cramped in our 1,000 square foot house, but will love our bigger 60'×40' back yard. From my research a corgi seems to fit well!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
daily walks, we do them now anyways. Hiking , camping, canoeing, biking (though i suspect we might need a carrier for that)
