 Corgi are the perfect working dog breed for me. Their energy and silliness can also help with the overall mood of a household. I believe Corgis to be some of the smartest breeds and I enjoy learning and working with dogs.

And after learning the triggers for my floof, I work hard to prevent them.
There are always signals so being prompt to respond has always served me well.

 We think Pembroke Welsh Corgi's are adorable. One of our students has one and occasionally brings it to visit us. We enjoy their temperament and high intelligence level. We have a nice sized yard and spacious single-family home and would love to fill it with the joyfulness of a dog. We have both ground up with various dogs and are excited to have one of our own. We have thoroughly read the AKC's website information on the breed traits, description and health; we feel a Pembroke Welsh Corgi would be a great fit for our family.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We take at least one walk (30 min or longer) every day and would love to have a dog to keep us company. We would love to be greeted everyday by a dog upon returning from work. We would love to play with/train the dog in our nice backyard and cuddle with it on the couch when the tv is on. We do not agree with chaining, ignoring or crating animals.

 We have a spacious, grassy back yard (roughly 25 square yrds). It is enclosed by trees on one side, a neighbors fence on one side and open to the other neighbor on the other side whom loves dogs but is, in her words "too old" to care for one. There is a 3' circular firepit made of paving stones in the center (the walls of this are tall enough to keep the dog from getting inside it and we could get a lid if necessary for safety).

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I have not had a dog before but my family had and my girlfriend had a little dog ( Chihuahua mix) and I love this a lot. One of the many times we went to the beach with her dog I was a little Corgi and fell in love right away and since then always point them out to my girlfriend and she says this is the dog for you that can be playful with you and make me not be a couch potato all the time.

 I live close to Millennium Park and I think that’s a great place to take my Corgi our where he can play in the grass. There are a lot of quiet park over here too.  I have a close friend who has a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Magnolia (Mags!). I have spent a lot of time with her over the years, including looking after her when her owners go out of town. What I love about the breed is how smart and loyal they are. Mags isn't as affectionate as I have heard most Pembroke Welsh Corgi's are but I love how sociable she is and how she is always right there when you are doing something around the house – just checking in on you! She made me fall in love with Pembroke Welsh Corgi's for their independent, fun loving nature.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I love to walk and would love company on my walks. I'd take them to the park and throw a ball around, visit friend and of course cuddle on the couch.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		If the Pembroke makes a mistake I would walk over to him/her and firmly but calmly say 'no' and take him her outside or to a pee pad. I'd then reward him/her vocally when they go in the right place

Discipline:
 I would work to train the dog with basic commands 'sit' 'stay' 'heel' etc. I'd ensure repetition and ideally daily in house training to make sure commands are followed. From my experience staying calm at all times is vital and also ensuring patience while he/she learns.

Where would dog sleep:
 My adopted Corgi would ideally sleep in a dog bed in my room. Again to begin with I recognize they may need to be in a crate while they get used to the space but would want them to end up with some space to move around in the night if they want to.

Play & exercise:
 I am a pretty active person. I love to walk so 'd look to take my Corgi out on walks 3 – 4 times a day and of course be sure to visit the park and throw the ball to them.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I like the temperament and playfulness of the Pembroke Welsh corgis. I like how they're intelligent and active, since I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and rock climbing. I've done research on the health issues Corgis can have with eyes, hips, and DM.
