Who is this dog for?	My fiance and I (the applicants). We would love to adopt a Corgi! We have been searching for a dog for a couple months now and a corgi would be a perfect fit for us!
Why do you want a Pembroke?	I love how clever and playful they can be! I know that they love to have a "job" and like to stay busy! We are pretty active people and love to take walks and hikes and would love to take our corgi with us! They are incredibly smart and gorgeous dogs and quite frankly they are my dream dog! My sister has a Pembroke she rescued so I've seen first hand just how high energy they can be and how well he fits in with her little family.

Why do you want a Pembroke?	I love that these dogs are small but pack a ton of character and playfulness into their personalities. As an owner of a herding dog, I know just how smart, active and loyal they are. They are filled with potential and need loving care to bring it out. I also like that corgis tend to get along well with people, dogs and children. I really want a dog that wants to snuggle with me, and offer up love and play to my loved ones.
Activities planned with Pembroke:	I take long walks every day and run several times a week. If the corgi wants to run with me, awesome. Josie hates running, so she just gets walks, fetch and dog park. I live right by Lake Harriet (and its off-leash dog park) and Bde Maka Ska, so plenty of fun adventures at the lake await.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:	I use positive reinforcement training to reinforce good behavior and gently steer away from bad. I have learned from many behavioral experts that this approach works well for dogs. When we got Josie, she was a very difficult puppy. She would eat my shoes, eat my boss's shoes (when I brought her to work), rile up other dogs, bite people (puppy style), you name it. I also put her through every level of obedience at the Canine Coach, asking for teachers who also had special needs dogs. (Josie is deaf.) She grew up to be perfectly sweet and loving! She also has great boundaries, never gets into things she shouldn't, never bites and is fairly submissive with other dogs. She's still silly though, and I love that.
Discipline:	I would gently say no, but be careful not to overly shame or scold, which can lead to secretive behavior. In general, rewarding good behavior with a treat is best. Description of yard:	To back up a little, I recently moved because I went through a divorce. We are sharing Josie currently. I'm in search of a corgi because I love the breed so much, and I believe they would get along well with a blue heeler. I moved to a duplex (rental) for a year, and plan to buy a house with a fenced-in yard once my lease is up next spring. My duplex is large, with two bedrooms, and a large, fenced-in, dog-safe patio. It also has a (non-fenced) yard. The other tenants are a small family, and the kids (9 and 10) love dogs and love to play with Josie. There are no swimming pools or worrisome objects like that in my home. Because I'm not sure where else this fits, a couple other notes about me: -I am an artist and photographer and my corgi friend would be a MAJOR muse. You would not be lacking in cute corgi follow-up photos. -I am very passionate about animal shelters and animal rescue. Josie came from a shelter and was rejected by her first family because she was deaf. I am so grateful to that shelter and regularly send them donations. Animals, like humans, are imperfect and have complex stories. They need compassion and care for the uniqueness of their spirit, and someone to give them a second chance. I am open to a corgi up to around 7 years of age, and would have no problem with a corgi who is deaf like Josie, or has another disability. I am also open to corgi mixes. I care most about having a dog that has a great soul and a genuine bond with me. I want to have a friend in my dog. It's a lifelong dream to have a corgi, but I am open to corgis of all walks of life, as long as I can properly care for one. However, a corgi over 10 might mean heartbreak too soon for me, as I would love to have children and have them meet my dog someday.

Why do you want a Pembroke?	We love corgis in general! My cousin has a corgi who we dog sit often and have fallen in love with. We love his personality, we feel like every corgi we have met has had such a unique personality, that other dogs don't have. We have done our research on Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and they check off every box we are looking for. We adore them and hope to add one of own to our little family

If for example they were chewing the furniture we would continuously stop them until they understood that they aren't suppose to chew on the furniture. Why do you want a Pembroke?	We have had two pembroke welsh corgis, both adopted from your organization. These dogs have been perfect fits for our family. We love the breed: how they look, the community of corgi lovers, their sweet and gentle personalities and their goofiness and playfulness. They are easy to care for from a grooming perspective and a nice size dog.
