Why do you want a Pembroke?
 One day, when I was about to move from Chicago back to my parents in the suburbs for a bit, I was feeling very sad taking a walk around the neighborhood when I saw not one, but two corgis greet each other. It brought me so much joy. That’s the type of joy I want to feel owning a corgi. They are such a happy dog that bring so much happiness to others around them. Just looking at one makes me melt! I’ve done a lot of research on corgis and their active and social spirits will fit in well with my lifestyle .

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 My boyfriend and I like to take long walks daily and long hikes on the weekends. I would love for the corgi to be able to keep up. Additionally, I love going to visit friends all over the midwest, so I would like the corgi to be social and ok driving in car for a few hours.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I adopted Chloe in 2003 from Lakeshore PWC rescue. She died in Nov 2017.
I love their social nature, social butterflies. Good things come in little packages, but they don't know they are little (although Chloe was exceptionally small at only 18 pounds).

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Car rides, walks, visiting friends with dogs.
It also depends on the dog, I did agility with Chloe. I also had a beagle/pointer mix that I took to the local nursing home/rehab to visit with the residents.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		Depends on the situation and what kind of mistake. A stern 'no' or 'leave it', with re-direction and positive re-enforcement.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 With me when I'm home, or wherever I could take him/her with me. When s/he must be home alone, either in a crate or in the kitchen (depends on the dog, they can be mischievous, so crating can keep them safe. My past 2 dogs were crate-trained. When Chloe was losing her eyesight and hearing, she was anxious in the crate, so I stopped using it and she stayed in the kitchen.

 This is for me and my Fiance! We are looking to be put on waiting lists for a corgi as they are our favorite dogs and we are hoping to buy a house in the next year of so!

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We love how lovable, family friendly and cute they are! Whenever I see them on our properties or in dog parks they are always so happy and excited to see other dogs and humans. I can honestly say I havent done extensive research on the breed but I do know that with their height and length that back issues can be a problem later in life but I do all I can for my animals and always keep up with any health issues!

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		If the dog makes a mistake I will use positive reinforcement when they do the correct thing. Dogs make mistakes and I would never yell at a dog for doing so. A strong voice and showing what the correct thing to do is will change the behavior.

 Our first dog as a married couple has been our princess, Ophelia, a four year old female corgi. We love her energy, snuggly personality but also very independent. She is the head of the household! Corgis are so smart and loving. We love that she keeps up with our hiking but when she’s inevitably tired she’s not too big to carry. We love the corgis’ size because there’s plenty of room to have them in the car for travel and even on our kayaks (with life jackets of course!)

We don’t believe in harsh tones or hitting! Just take the time to train and learn together.

 We do use the water bottle squirt method on our corgi now. We don’t spray her at this point, just having it out she knows to not bark or whatever she’s doing that we don’t want to continue. We really believe in focusing on the good behavior with treats and praise.

 Yes, I am self employed and work from home typically. My husband has been working from home during the covid19 pandemic with no plans to return to the office soon.

 Inside the house, separate from our corgi now. Our girl hasn’t had to share food space with another a dog. We would keep them separate during food time until possibly until they could be on the same room but that would depend on how well they do. But we have plenty of room for them to be separated.

Where would dog sleep:
 She would be more than welcome in our bed. Our girl now sleeps under the bed in her dog beg and blankets around. Our new corgi would have a spot set up in our bedroom and see how she likes that then adjust to wherever she feels comfortable.

Play & exercise:
 We just got a new fenced in back yard! I’m hoping to get a little jump. I take my corgi now on walks around the neighborhood every morning I can, at least 4 times a week but typically more. We frequently visit dog parks and are just a few minutes from them. We love to take our girl kayak 1-3 times a week during the summer and let her swim. With a life jacket!
