Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We have done extensive research on corgis and have wanted one for many years. We love how vocal they are and how much of a busy-body they tend to be, as herding dogs. The companionship is the best – they can be like shadows to their owners, which we love! We have pet sit in the past for a very senior corgi who had trouble with stairs (as we expect with corgis) and have talked to the owner about what to expect with senior dogs, as we know dogs are a life-long commitment! We have waited many years because we wanted Ariel to finish her doctorate before rescuing another dog, mainly because now we are a double-income household and believe we have the financial stability to provide for another rescue.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Herding activities, training for new skills (we have taught our 4 year old rescue pug a great deal of "tricks", and we are very proud because pugs are notoriously hard to train!), take on all family adventures, keep healthy and at a good weight (pugs are known for being overweight but our girl is 13 pounds because we feed nutritional food and stress keeping active).

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		With our dog, we have had to break the behavior of begging. She used to sit and bark when we were making food or eating, which we counteracted by a stern (not yelling) "No." We do not use her name when disciplining, as we have read that this can give dogs a negative connotation to their name. We absolutely do NOT believe in the method of rubbing the dog's face in an accident on the floor if it occurs.

Discipline:
 See above. A stern "no", no physical discipline, and no use of her name. We also do not put her in her crate if she misbehaves because this goes against the crate training that established the crate as a safe zone.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
 At home with us and his/her pug sister Lola!

 3 days a week during normal work week hours, at least 1 of us is home. Additionally, Michael works from home once a week.

 Currently our dog has a water dish and maze bowl in her crate, as this is where she is most comfortable eating. Likely, we will do the same with the corgi's crate.

Where would dog sleep:
 In our bed if he/she prefers, unless he/she is crate trained prior to adopting, as we have read that open-door crates often serve as a comfort station for dogs. Our pug sleeps with us.

Play & exercise:
 See above comments on day care in order to play with other dogs and stay socialized. Additionally, we currently go on a 30-45 minute walk with our pug daily and take her to as many dog-friendly events as possible. We have memberships to 2 local dog parks which we would extend to also have our corgi included.

 My husband grew up with one. They are very loyal, loving dogs with good temperments. They are one of the cutest breeds around.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		I would say no, try to point out the mistake to them while saying now, and then reward them when they don't make that mistake again. Its important to use positive reinforcement with dogs rather than fear tactics.

 It all depends on the behavior we are trying to correct. Anything from no in a stern voice to putting them in a crate for a short period of time.

 We had to put our senior dog to sleep this past winter. She had bad hip dysplasia and we had been having health issues for approximately 2 yrs. I spared no expense trying to make her comfortable and prolong her life, but it got to the point where she no longer had any quality of life. I had my samantha for almost her entire life.

 I have been a Corgi owner for over 12 years until my Daisy's recent passing. I love everything about this breed. They are beautiful, loving, affectionate, smart and fun. I love that they are confident and vocal and like to express themselves!

 Pembroke would be for us. (We have a an 8 year-old lab mix recue, and would love a friendly corgi to meet our girl's sweet disposition. She and the neighborhood, Corgi Martin, love each other. Great match.)

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 We have a Corgi in our neighborhood named Martin. He stands at our fence to say hello and loves our Maisey. They play together in the yard sometimes. We've been looking for another dog to adopt and love the Corgi personality. Friendly, playful, sweet, curious, loves to go for walks. We've looked the breed up online several times. We know it's a dwraf dog bred for herding. They are loyal and friendly. They love a family and their owners. We already have one canine who follows us where ever we go, and we welcome the company. We've had friends with this breed and have said we'd love a Corgi's personality.

 Our Pembroke would go for regular walks.. She'd have car rides, a trip or two with the family. She'd go to the park. She'd play with neighborhood canines should they be compatible. Why do you want a Pembroke?
 My husband and I both love Corgis for their unique look and personality. When I was growing up, my sisters and I frequently dog-sat in the neighborhood. Casey, who was a rescued Pembroke, was always so much fun to watch. I've wanted one ever since.

My husband grew up with small dogs while I had medium sized dogs. A Corgi is a perfect size for us both. The fact that Corgis are a working breed also appeals to us because we like taking long walks for exercise.

We have dreamed of owning a Corgi for ten years, but we have never had a chance to adopt because we lived in rented apartments. We recently purchased our own home with a large yard. Now is the right time for us to adopt.

 We like to stay active and would take regular walks with our Pembroke. Northern Minnesota has many pet-friendly trails, so we will likely take our Pembroke on short hikes during weekend day-trips. My husband works from home, and would keep our Pembroke well-enterained during the day.

 My aunt has had corgis and we love how different their personalities vary. From playful to lazy and their different likes and dislikes.  Theyre adorable, I like that they're closer to a larger breed in a little body, that they're a family dog. I like that they're intelligent and typically known to he easy going. The fact that they can be stubborn doesnt bother me. I will enjoy walking him or her at our river walk. I have interacted with them at work a bit (I'm a bather at a grooming salon), and an acquaintance friend has a corgi from your organizatio. His name is Hiro. Who is this dog for?

 The Pembroke is for may girlfriend and I. We currently live in a 3 bedroom home together with our two cats. We have a wonderful fenced in yard as well. We have been wanting to get a dog to complete our family for the time being, but refuse to purchase one from the breeder. We both grew up with dogs, and now living together on our own we miss having one, though our cats are wonderful companions as well. Sarah is obsessed with Corgi's, and we would like to help save a life, while also saving money by adopting a rescue. We are in no-rush, and our only specification is that the dog must get along with cats. We take care of our 2 cats like they are our children, and would never want to endanger them with a dog that could be aggressive towards them. We are happy to take a middle-aged corgi, and gender is not important. We want what would be best for the dog as well. Thank you for your time ?

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 My girlfriend and I have done significant research on the breed. While I am more open to rescue other breeds as well, my girlfriend really has her heart set on Corgis, so I insist that we rescue. I grew up with Shelties, so I am very used to hyper and vocal medium sized dogs. I also just moved out of a home with a dauschund with = aggression issues, so I have had a good amount of experience with obedience training and just dealing with the unexpected when it comes to taking care of these animals. My girlfriend has a family friend who owns two corgis, and we have spent much time with them, making us want one even more. We grew up with dogs all our lives, and feel a corgi will be the perfect fit in our new home. At the end of the day, we just care about saving a life.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 We would love to play with the dog a good amount! Our home has a decent sized flat yard with a good fence, and we would love for it to be able to run around outside with a good amount of freedom as well! We would love to cuddle with the dog and have it sleep with us at night if it likes. I oftentimes work from home, so the dog would have near-constant attention.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		The dog would be disciplined by perhaps being told to sit in its bed, and using a stern tone to display the wrongdoing. We would never dream of physically hurting the dog in anyway. We also will reward the dog with treats as to help teach it has done something well.

 I own an end-unit townhome without the ability to install a fence in my yard; however, I regularly utilize the yard, my neighborhood is dog-friendly, and neighbors can rarely be heard through the shared walls (even neighbors with dogs). Why do you want a Pembroke?
 While I have never owned a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, I have done periodic research on the breed over the last few years while planning to adopt a dog. As stated on a previous page, I like the idea of a small to medium size dog with “big dog energy.” I grew up having labradors, sometimes multiple at one time, and I often miss the energy. Yet, living in town – albeit on the edge of town – makes it difficult to have a large dog, simply because I don’t have an area where a large dog can roam freely. However, I love walking and feel it feasible to have a corgi that I can keep up with. I know that the breed is very intelligent and can suffer from boredom, so I am prepared to offer enrichment as necessary. One thing I would like further education on if given the chance to adopt is potential health issues of this breed. While I have read some information about this topic online and am aware of the potential issues due to corgis’ size and structure, I want to be prepared for an aging corgi since I plan on my home being a “forever home” to any dog I adopt.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 My preferred method of exercise is walking, whether that’s on the sidewalk or on the biking/walking trails near my home. My town and other towns nearby also have dog parks, which I have visited with my parents’ dog a number of times when she has visited. I spend the majority of my evenings at home, so much of that time, when not walking, would be spent sitting outside in the yard or inside in my lower level. I understand that playing and enrichment is important for a corgi, so that would also be on my daily agenda.

When working at my office in town (the same town where I reside), the dog would be alone. My adult brother is staying with me temporarily and is sometimes home the majority of the day when I am working. His shifts as a police officer vary, so he sometimes works days and other times works nights.

Where would dog eat?
 I don’t have a specific place in mind, but my first instinct would be the kitchen or back hallway, away from the dining room table where I typically eat. I am open to suggestions.

 I would love to have a dog that is comfortable sleeping with me or having free roam of the house during the night, but I also understand some dogs can be territorial and I would definitely provide a dog bed and/or crate as an option if that is what the dog prefers.

 I have a large, grassy yard with a few trees but do not have the ability to put up a fence due to homeowners association rules. It is feasible to put a dog outside on a leash if supervised closely.
